The little red house…

IMG_5551Central Park – Wishful Thinking

I’m back from five crazy days in New York and I miss the hustle and bustle already! I know I promised photos but at last count, I took over 750 photos so I still have a lot of sorting to do before I can do a NY post justice!  So keep posted and I might tell you a little tale of my very harrowing experience in a New York taxi. In the meantime, let’s take a look at another one of my dream houses. You would be forgiven for thinking that this little red house is a barn somewhere in America but it’s actually perched on a wooded hilltop in Sweden! The beautiful green door and the neat white little windows are my favourite features but just take a minute to imagine this landscape covered in snow with fairy lights twinkling in the trees. Magical!

What a place to work!

Wednesday, 5 October 2011

People who work in stylish offices are more productive. Fact or fiction? I don’t know, I just made that up! But it makes sense right? Offices in general tend to be very ugly (my pet hate is the eye-sore that is the office chair and grim fluorescent lighting and don’t even get me started on PC equipment)! I know offices have to be functional but I still dream of the day when I can decorate my own office with plush furniture and textiles, stylish lighting and other home comforts that usually lack in an office environment. Take a look at some people who have it good…

P.S. I am off on holiday for a few days but I’ll be back next week with some awesome photos to share!

Let’s talk about some fabulous art!

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

Well it’s hardly surprising that I’ve got travelling on the brain again! My love of travelling extends to how I decorate our home, what we eat for dinner, what clothing I wear and even what art I enjoy. I came across the photography collages of Russian artist Serge Mendzhiyskogo and had to share them. The images (mostly of urban landscapes) are created by cutting up hundreds of photographs into strips and then putting them back together again to create a complex, slightly distorted picture. I love the energy and depth this technique creates. It reminds me a little bit of looking into a kaleidoscope! You like?

I love me a bit of New England Charm!

First of all, I can’t start my blog post without acknowledging the fact that I spent the whole weekend lying outside in the blazing sun getting sunburnt… in October… in England… in OCTOBER! Best. weekend. ever! When I wasn’t roasting myself or having a barbeque, I was surfing the internet for some inspiration. I came across this Beautiful House which I completely fell in love with! It has everything I want out of a dream house: 1. on the water, 2. blue shutters, 3. wrap around porch, 4. cute architectural details, 5. sprawling grounds, 6. sun-soaked gardens etc (I could go on but I’ll just let the pictures do the talking).
