Waning summer…

Friday 9 August 2013

My bus to work has been on diversion for the past week – although it takes a little bit longer for me to get to work, I now journey to Piccadilly Circus and then all the way back up the full length of Regent Street. You know what this means? A wealth of window displays to ogle at. Only problem is, I am ogling faux fur, wool hats and long leather boots. London has gone into full winter mode while I am still walking around in dresses and sandals. It’s all very disconcerting (especially since I will not be having another winter this year). I’ve got mixed feelings about having 2 summers, I mean I detest winter but I love the crisp autumn evenings. So instead of wrinkling my nose at the displays, I am embracing them. I have got my eye on a few goodies from Mango but I guess they will have to wait until next year (and yes, Aus has Mango. FTW)!

  1. Same here. We will be wearing summer clothes right through September for the most part. School is pretty hot and sticky at the beginning.

  2. When we moved to San Diego from Pennsylvania many, many years ago we did it mid-winter and it was great! I can remember shopping for shoes and thinking, but will these *work* where there is no winter? I love the seasonal changes, but once we got there I never looked back. Didn't miss it at all. :)

  3. So strange that you won't be having a winter! That's so funny to think about! The first time I went to a Mango was last year in Bruges, and it was a wonderful experience, haha. We don't yet have stores here but we can shop online! I ended up buying a dress I had seen in Belgium that I regretted not snapping up in the store. Ever since then I scan their website weekly for new, fun things. I love al of these outfits! xo

  4. i love mango too. and that is so strange that you won't get winter! and christmas is in the summertime!! oh my gosh i am so excited that you will be able to give me full reports on this. i get that hawaii and other such place are hot and remain tropical during christmas. but since i have been a child the fact that christmas is actually in the SUMMER in Australia it has boggled my mind and i have spent hours laying in bed at night trying to wrap my brain around this. i think about it in the same way i think about the fact we are floating in space. exciting! xo

  5. It was a little the same when I lived in Spain (no Winter as such). I love the distinct seasons and really missed them . At least you know you will eventually get a Winter. Anyway it's always better to make a move somewhere new when the sun is shining. All the little niggles just don't bother you so much ;-)
    Have a lovely weekend x

  7. See in San Diego I miss the actual seasons. I mean I don't need months and months of freezing cold and snow...but we don't have an autumn here...which frankly is my favorite season!

  9. Some of these dresses are just gorgeous. And just think, while the rest of us are freezing our buns off, you'll be rocking that year-long gorgeous golden tan
