My Fair London – Westminster…

Tuesday 4 September 2012

Even though I have lived in London for over 7 years, I still occasionally have to pinch myself just so that I know I am not dreaming! My mornings are spent rushing passed Buckingham Palace, through Green Park and along the shopping meccas of New Bond Street and Oxford Street hoping to get to work on time (I often wonder just how many tourist photos I have unintentionally photo-bombed )! I’d be lying if I said I took in these sites every day but I do count myself very lucky to live and work amongst them. I will never tire of being a tourist in this city – there always seems to be something I haven’t seen or done. It recently dawned on me that I haven’t actually got any photos of some of the big tourist attractions so I did a little sight-seeing. Here’s a taster of Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament and the surrounding area.

Do you make a habit of being a tourist in your city/town?

  2. My Mum & Dad lived in an apartment on the edge of the Thames, just down from Tower Bridge, for a couple of years. It was so amazing to spend some time there with them, and we definitely did all the touristy things. You're very lucky to be living there. x

  6. These are beautiful photos! My husband and I, about once a month, will try to take a day and just explore our city. We have both lived here for many many years, but it's always fun to see new sights! :-)

  7. Ahhh you are so lucky to live in such a cool place! I am dying to go to London and see all those things so it was fun looking at your pictures! I need to do this around my own city. We've only lived here ( MInneapolis, MN) for a year and will only be here another two while my husband finishes up law school. So while it's no London, I do keep thinking I need to explore the city a little more and enjoy it while I can! I used to love doing this when we lived in Las Vegas; sometimes we'd go down to the strip and just do all the touristy stuff. It's fun to be a tourist in your own city! :)

  13. Oh London, I do miss that skyline. I live in an older neighborhood in my city and people have done wonderful restorations with the old buildings here - I'll have to share a picture of the old "main street" here and how it has been preserved

  14. I haven't been in London for over 10 years and your photos make me want to go again soon. Feel the same way about pinching myself when getting of the train in New York every morning. I can see the Empire State Building from my desk and the first couple of weeks I caught myself staring at it all the time ;)
