Beautifully Captured…

I am very lucky to work with a colleague who has just returned from living in Sydney for 6 months. I have been bombarding her with millions of questions about jobs, houses, lifestyle etc. I want to know it ALL. She has been wonderfully patient and informative and a few days ago, she emailed me a newsletter of a surfer-come-photographer based in Bondi that she thought I would like. This might be old hat to some of you (as he has a following to rival that of Justin Bieber) but Aquabumps (website and newsletter) was started by Eugene Tan, long before blogs were even a big deal. I was hooked from the very first picture. Most of the shots are taken at day break but it’s Eugene’s interesting and unique angles that I think make him stand out from the rest. I immediately subscribed to the newsletter and set about making friends and colleagues jealous by sending them pictures of our new home. If you are a fan of beach photography (or photography in general really), do yourself a favour and subscribe! You can also buy prints of your favourites from the website.

Just because….

I’m feeling a little out-of-sorts this week. I’m blaming it on the self-inflicted yet monstrous 2-day hangover I endured from the Christmas party festivities [thankfully I didn’t come home in a shopping trolley but I found an alarming amount of tube maps in my handbag on Saturday morning]. So I’m going to post a little of this and a little of that, anything that takes my fancy really. Today I want to post about the exquisite work of Copenhagen-based photographer Line Klein. I self-medicated with a duvet day whilst swooning over her incredible photos. I think the excerpt from her website sums up her work beautifully:

“Texture and light is her thing, and Lines signature aesthetics leave every client with a tangible, sensual take on Scandinavian cool”.

Coastal Photography…

I’ve blogged about my love of coastal photography many times before, but my trip to Devon gave me the opportunity to give it a go. The coast provides the perfect backdrop for photos, it can be both dramatic and serene and playful yet serious. It was by far the most challenging but fun thing I have photographed with my new camera. It’s all still a learning process for me, and we didn’t really go at the right time of the day, early morning and late evening seem to be the times where the light is the most dramatic and captivating. This and that from home…

I had a weekend of pure sloth… again. I just couldn’t motivate myself to do anything constructive (ploughing through the Hunger Games might have something to do with it). As a result of my slothy ways, I don’t have my usual London exploration pics for you, so instead I thought I would show you a couple of artsy (well we thought they were anyway), pictures I took around the house over the weekend. As the camera is still new to me, I have been sticking to relatively easy and interesting subjects like plants and flowers, but bare with me and maybe in a few months I can bring you something a little more exciting!

And of course there was lots of cooking, eating and some not-so-disastrous baking!
