Getting it right…

Friday 11 May 2012

Most days, I take my time getting dressed in the morning. I think I am quite meticulous about what I wear and I seldom leave the house in something that doesn’t feel or look right. Despite this, I know I have days where I get it horribly wrong (evidenced by the fact that someone asked me if I belonged to a Pagan group on Monday). I was going to blame the rain for my ill-advised choices but then I saw this beautiful rainy day outfit (on The Daybook blog of course… a.k.a my fashion Bible) and realised that the weather was a very poor excuse! So my question is, how do you stay stylish in the rain?

Have a wonderful weekend all!

  1. This is tricky. I don't own a pair of Hunter boots, and I don't know how good I would look in them, so rain usually gives me a headache. But at least I have a pretty umbrella. :)

  2. Yes, I love Sydney over at The Daybook - she always looks so great. I have a pair of Hunter boots, and LOVE them - so practical, and they look awesome. xxx

  3. hahaha - a pagan group. you crack me up. well wearing galoshes to work and then changing into heels are a must. i braid or put a bun up because the rain is just going to ruin my hair. and maybe try to wear one thing of color on the day it rains: skirt, shirt, bracelet, earrings. even if it's tiny it can help to remember not all of the world is grey...we've been getting a lot of rain in nyc, so i feel your pain.

  4. I have a really cute pair of boots in a sunny yellow/turquoise combination and that helps a lot.

  5. So pretty! I have to admit I am not stylish and it hardly ever rains here. No excuse, just poor execution on my part. haha

  6. Haha I give myself a pass on rainy days - it's hard enough just to get out of bed!

  7. Rainy days are no good for me! My hair always ends up looking like a big frizz ball so I always pull it back. I suppose waterproof makeup, boots and a stylish trench coat would qualify for
rainy days or at least in my case :) Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Okay, if I wore that outfit I'm just not sure if I'm cool enough to pull off the Hunters and skirt ensemble. Good inspiration because it's unexpected. I should live a little. :-)

  10. Oh it's typically lots of sleek black pants and tops to keep it "stylish" and then adding little gold jewelry. It just works for me as I can't even think about wearing a skirt when it rains! happy weekend

  11. Great outfit but ...where is the rain ? I have a pair of Hunters but most of the time, I can't be bothered to put them on ; just the thought of having to take them off when I arrive at work !.. I say just throw a mac on top of whatever you're wearing. Btw, never met a Pagan group, what do they look like ???

  12. I have a bright fuchsia-coloured trench I bought from Mango a few years ago - it's my rainy day savior.

  13. I have black Hunters that I love, and I usually pair them with a trench coat and umbrella. As for under the trench coat, it's usually a hot mess. A dress or skirt with leggings mostly, and shoes to change into once I get in the office. I like to braid my hair or put it in a bun since it will hang all gross and limp around my face if I don't. Let's just say I much prefer sunny, dry days!
