A while back, I started to notice that my inspiration folders were filling up with pictures of benches. Benches outside landmarks, garden benches, benches in the dining room, entrance hall, living room, bedroom. I have no idea where this obsession came from or even why I have it but it seems like a good thing to go with… so I’m going with it!
Velvet Sofas… yay or nay?
Wednesday, 11 January 2012
Past posts will reveal that I am a big sucker for a good chair… I probably spend far too much time looking through chair inspiration… is there a support group for me? On my radar at the moment, are velvet sofas. Nothing says opulence and luxury more than a bit of velvet. But I have my reservations – is this a timeless trend or will I be looking at my sofa in 15 years wondering what the hell I was thinking? Will it lose it’s velvety softness and look like a threadbare towel in a few years?
What are your feelings on velvet sofas? Yay or Nay?

Open Me!

Image found via Skona Hem (and yes, my Photoshop is still dead but there are 4 days left until Christmas – just in case you didn’t notice!)
I have been sitting here for the better part of an hour trying to think of something to say to introduce these beautiful ornate doorknobs…. but what can one really say about a doorknob? I mean they are a pretty necessary part of everyday life and opening doors without them could make for a frustrating and potentially embarrassing experience. It is for this reason that I get really irritated to see hideous plasticy B&Q goodies stuck on doors without any real thought or care (we have them here in our little house in London, so doors stay open so that I don’t have to see them too often). And now this post has turned into a rant, so I’ll leave you with some doorknob eye candy instead!
Heavy Metal!
Wednesday, 9 November 2011
I think it’s fair to say that the majority of us tend to stick with natural soft furniture and storage in our homes. Although lately, I have seen metal popping up everywhere (particularly as storage furniture). I have been on the fence about it for a while but I now find myself a convert. From wire baskets, to vintage metal lockers to polished aluminium stools, I fell in love with them all! I like that it adds a sort of gritty industrial feel to a space, but I must admit that I prefer it when it is balanced out with soft fluffy textiles, house plants and rustic timber. How do you feel about metal furniture in your home?
