Skona Hem Xmas 2 Image found via Skona Hem (and yes, my Photoshop is still dead but there are 4 days left until Christmas – just in case you didn’t notice!)

I have been sitting here for the better part of an hour trying to think of something to say to introduce these beautiful ornate doorknobs…. but what can one really say about a doorknob? I mean they are a pretty necessary part of everyday life and opening doors without them could make for a frustrating and potentially embarrassing experience. It is for this reason that I get really irritated to see hideous plasticy B&Q goodies stuck on doors without any real thought or care (we have them here in our little house in London, so doors stay open so that I don’t have to see them too often). And now this post has turned into a rant, so I’ll leave you with some doorknob eye candy instead!

  1. It's in the details, isn't it? I love that first one. :)
PS: Meghan, I'm glad you liked my today's post. It's part of a little blog project aiming to reveal the beautiful side of Bucharest. And this is the first post: http://classiq.ro/my-beautiful-city-bucharest

  5. They are all my favorite. The last one is a little creepy though. I don't want to hold hands with my fence, I don't know about you...

  8. What a gorgeous collection. We have just brought an old chest of drawers back to life, and all they need to finish them is some new handles. I want to make the right choice as they will make such a difference on the drawers, so am taking it very seriously. Hubby is not sure what all the fuss is about! xxx

  9. I couldn't agree more! It is terribly difficult to buy lovely handles and knobs in Australia. We ordered imported 'German' knobs for our kitchen and they took 8 months to arrive. The retailer told us the delay was due to a factory closure in China??!

  12. I love the doorknob photos! It's little touches like that which make a home have so much more personality. My previous flat had glass doorknobs which I just loved, now I've just got the boring standard knobs. Makes me wish I had my own place so I could buy some fun ones!

  14. I have really enjoyed photographing doors during our travels - to me they are a little secret gem that most people just pass right by and never notice. You have beautiful examples here Meghan! Hope you're enjoying your holidays!

  16. Oh my god, so much eye candy in this post!!! Totally agree about tacky doorknobs - I've swapped mine downstairs for crystal pulls from Laura Ashley which I love but the upstairs doors all need to be done as well! At the moment, they are just plain white - BORING.

I just kept looking at each picture in turn going, 'oh my god!' 'oh my god I love that one!' 'oh I love that too!'... my other half thinks I've lost it now lol

Thanks for the endless inspiration!! xxx
