Just a hint of twinkle…

Wednesday 14 November 2012

If you followed my blog last year you might remember how much I adore Christmas. I start to get excited about it round about July and contrary to what my loved ones think, I never ever “peak too soon”! I realise that not everyone gets that excited about it (scrooges) and as a compromise to not putting my decorations up in October (because that would be wrong… right??) I always keep a healthy dose of festivity around by keeping fairy lights in various rooms of the house throughout the year – wound around the banister of our spiral staircase and an old mirror we found in the attic of our first London house share.

What do you think about a little dose of festivity throughout the year?

  1. I love Christmas too, it's definitely my favourite time of year. And some of the decorations are far too pretty to bring out only once a year. I'm a huge fan of fairy lights, we're trying to find some solar powered lights to wrap around our recently built pergola. I also like some wreaths I've seen on people's door year round. x

  2. I'm big on Christmas as well even if it's not celebrated much in the Middle East. I'd like to keep at least some candles and wreaths at home. Ooh fairy lights- great idea.

  6. Whaaaa, thank you for the beautiful inspiration! I think I could totally pull that light curtain on the wall, regardless of the season! I usually keep the Christmas decorations up until the beginning of March. Everyone frowns but to me it feels unnatural to bring them down any sooner...

  7. Nothing wrong with that at all! Twinkly lights are a year-round right! :) I'm a total sucker for creating atmosphere with lighting. I love it! I would never put up Christmas stuff in October because, well, that's when my favorite holiday, Halloween takes place, but I'm so looking forward to decorating for Christmas next weekend!

  9. i just took down christmas lights that had been hanging in my living room for like three years. they were star shaped and twinkled and i loved them. but i decided it looked a bit like a 16 year girl lived at my house. so yes i finally took them down but promptly replaced them with plain little lights. obviously i love it!

  10. Fairy lights are the most beautiful and elegant thing in the world. I would love to have some up year round. If I had an open staircase I would wind a string through the banister. I love the shot with the curtain above the bed with the lights strung over it. So comfy looking!
