I was once told by a girl wearing nine inch high heeled pointy boots that a girl could learn to walk in heels (to help you picture the scene, the girl in question towered above me at nearly 6 feet and called me “Duhling” in a strong Eastern European accent whilst puffing on a cigarette and sneering at my Converse). Now I admit that my footwear has come a long way since then but I have never fully taken to wearing heels. Anything over a certain height and I resemble a baby deer taking its first steps. Wedges, on the other hand, are my best friend. I can strut, stand and on occasion even run in wedges. Today I am sporting my favourite pair of cork wedges that make me feel like a powerful giant. Seriously.
It’s happening…
Thursday, 27 June 2013
I woke up yesterday morning with a start. Surrounded by empty walls, an empty bank account and another day closer to August, (pardon my French) but shit just got real for me. The nerves are finally dissipating and I am starting to picture our new lives in Sydney. I’m taking the day off from my usual blogging schedule to do a little happy dance and work on my accent! Normal service will resume tomorrow.
A wedding in Savannah
Wednesday, 26 June 2013
As an avid traveller, I am constantly adding new dream destinations to my travel bucket list. Lots of places go on the list but nothing ever, ever comes off. A destination that has long since been on my list is Savannah, Georgia. The architecture, the large swooping trees, the Spanish moss and the general old town feel of it is just begging to be explored… by me! I’ve always thought it would make the perfect backdrop for a wedding and then just this weekend, I found a beautiful wedding that took place against this very scenery. Here’s a little snapshot of Megan and David’s Blue and White Wedding in Savannah. (Personally, I don’t think it gets more romantic than this).

Charmant Sarlat
Tuesday, 25 June 2013
I had great plans for the weekend. They involved leaving the chaos at home and going for a walk round the South Bank, ending with a steak burrito from the Wahaca street cart (a little bundle of pure bliss I tell you). But it rained, and rained, and rained and a walk along the freezing cold and grey Thames in the rain is just not that appealing. So we stayed at home and packed and tried not to break our necks tripping over boxes and cables. I considered taking a picture (and I probably still will) just to show you what I am dealing with but I felt like prettiness today so instead I am going to show you some pictures of Sarlat – the medieval town we stayed outside of on our trip to France. When I close my eyes and think of a French country town, Sarlat immediately comes to mind. The honey coloured buildings form the perfect backdrop for the twice weekly market. Saucisson, fresh fruit and vegetables, wine, fish and foie gras stretches through the winding streets, enticing you every step of the way.
Monday Snoop – A hotel with a Tuscan view
Monday, 24 June 2013
I’m having mixed feelings about this week (I know it’s only Monday) but this is the week that we make our big announcement at work and give notice on our house. Even though I know there was no going back, this week will make it official. YIKES! I’m pretty excited but also a bit nervous and would like nothing more than to crawl into a fresh bed (made by someone else) and forget about the world for a few days. I came across Hotel Monteverdi in Tuscany, Italy and thought this would be the perfect place for me to escape to! Views that take your breath away, baths that you could soak in for days, original beamed ceilings, wood burning fireplaces and rooms finished in soft soothing linens. It doesn’t get any more perfect. I will just have to resort to closing my eyes and imagining I am there!
