In the movies you always see people get married, have a party and then immediately afterwards, board a plane and jet-set off to a blissful honeymoon. In reality, the practicalities don’t always work out that way. We got married on the Friday and were only due to leave for the Maldives on Sunday evening. So what does one do the day after they get married? Go on an English country picnic of course! Armed with spinach and feta pie, cold meats, fresh fruit and chocolate covered strawberries, we headed to the Kent countryside to visit “one of England’s most romantic country houses”, Scotney Castle. It was raining…obviously… but the grounds and the castle were so beautiful that a little bit of rain didn’t bother us at all. We were allowed to take pictures inside which in itself was unusual… much like the house (which is filled with hundreds of books, paintings, trinkets and sayings). The 770 acres of ground was the perfect picnic spot and contains a ruinous castle (complete with moat) as well as a creepy Victorian ice house and a Henry Moore sculpture.
It was the perfect way to spend the day after our wedding!
