My Fair London – The Legal Walk

Tuesday 28 February 2012

I really love exploring London, it still amazes me that even though I am an avid explorer and have lived here for 7 years, I have still not scratched the surface of what this city truly has to offer. We were graced with beautiful weather again this past weekend (c’mon spring) so we set off to have a wonder about Covent Garden and do some shopping. Well folks, if you have been to London within the past couple of months, you will know what a total mess it is. Roads are being dug up, traffic is backed up for miles and most attractions are covered in scaffolding – all in preparation for the Olympics. To avoid the congested sidewalks, we decided to wonder into the city (which empties on the weekend and remains largely tourist free). We wondered around the area of Lincoln’s Inn, Fleet Street and Temple, and ended the day enjoying burgers and milkshakes under the shadow of St. Paul’s.

  1. I'm the same: I always feel like I haven't even discovered a fraction of London yet. I guess it has something to do with the fact that London is absolutely huge and public transport is very often rubbish (I have a car, but don't really drive into Central London, don't see the point) so there are corners that I simply haven't explored yet... The weather was amazing, wasn't it? We had our very first picnic in Kent - it was bliss! xo

PS: I hope you don't mind me asking like this, but could I ask you to please vote for me here:

  10. What an awesome architecture tour! Looks like you had amazing weather too. How fun that you get to be there for the Olympics but I guess you have to put up with the headaches beforehand too! Thanks so much for your nice comments while I was in transition - I'll be online more going forward. :)

  11. I have to say that I am just loving this new look on your blog.... I am so jealous of the old buildings in London. Here in Canada or at least where I live, Vancouver, there is no holding back from tearing down whatever history we do have. It's a shame and it's also all about greed. Beautiful shots.

  13. I love your photos! It makes me miss London so much. I haven't visited since 2007 and I want to go back so badly. I almost ended up in graduate school there but alas, life took me on a different path. I love your pictures though, the architecture is stunning. You just don't get that here in the U.S.

  16. As a Londoner myself, I really appreciate seeing these images of my home city. Do you have a favourite area?

  17. Thanks for stopping by Milla! Gosh, it's so hard to pick a favourite, but I really enjoy strolling along the South Bank on a Saturday morning and then taking a wonder through Borough Market. I also love nights out in Soho and Sundays in Hyde Park...the choices are endless!
