My favourite memory of my mom is of her bent over piles of knitting furiously clicking away on knitting needles whilst simultaneously bossing me about and orchestrating dinner. My mom could knit just about anything within a matter of days – she had an innate ability to spot a pattern on television or on a person in a supermarket and could replicate it instantly (although v. embarrassing having to stalk someone with your mom while she memorises a knitting pattern). My sister and I were both taught how to knit but I am ashamed to say that I probably wouldn’t know how to do it now. Trawling through knitted items on the internet, I am now starting to feel like I might have lost a valuable skill. How about you? Do you/can you/ would you want to knit?

I am definitely open to learning how to knit. It depends on what projects I would actually want to tackle. I think it'd be great to knit a warm winter blanket out of the right material, or knit really fashionable scarves, mittens, and berets for friends~

I love the shots of the babies - with a degree in textile design I actually studied Knitting but ended up majoring in weaving....though it was a tough decision at the time xx
ReplyDeleteThese are AMAZING. How cool are the union jack chairs! I have just learnt to crochet and am really eager to learn to knit next.
ReplyDeleteALSO, wanted to say thanks for the happy dance re Tuesday Torture, I am sure am doing one!

OH my gosh, I'm dying at those little doggie hats! Love them!
ReplyDeleteI have "learned" to knit a few times. I can make some rows, but eventually I get bored, stop, and forget how to do it! However, my grandmother and sister are incredible crocheters!
ReplyDeleteCrafts and I get along quite well, but I just don't understand how to knit. Wish I would cause it's all so gorgey poodle.

Some fantastic knitted items in this post! I have knitted the odd item, but nothing as nice as the above - I think I'm more of a sewing person... xo
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to learn to knit for like two years now (sigh). I do love that wrap pendant light though, very sleek.
ReplyDeleteSo in theory I think I'd love to knit...the problem is I can't sit still with it to keep my interest and actually learn it. I love knitted sweaters though they are so cozy!
ReplyDeletei am a big admirer of people like your mom who can sew or knit anything but alas i am not as skillful..
ReplyDeleteMan wish I could knit, that clock is super cool

Awesome chair sweaters!
ReplyDeleteI used to know how to crochet, but I'm afraid this is a skill I've lost because it has been so long ;(
Everyone on my dad's side of the family are very in to knitting! They send me scarves and such often, so it's nice. I wish I could knit myself, I remember seeing beautiful knit hats at Anthropologie that I really liked but were so pricey and thinking if I knew how to knit it would be so easy to re-create!
ReplyDeleteis there anything cozier than a knit coffee coozie!?!
ReplyDeleteJust looking at these pictures makes you want to knit. My mom has taught me a few times but it never seems to stick. I think it's great to be able to have these "life" skills. Living in the 21st century makes it too easy to take those things for granted. I've got my great grandmothers singer sewing machine that I really want to get up and running this summer!! Watch this space!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAmazing images! I love the knitted pouf, the baby's cap and the throw pillows. I can't knit to save my life! I wish I knew!

Thanks for the comment on my blog today! I love all this knitting inspiration. This is something I want to KNOW how to do, without having to actually LEARN it. But now you're making me think it might be worth learning. :)
