A few years ago, at a particularly dull party a friend of mine suggested we play ‘pronounce the Australian town game’. Have you played it? Well you sit in front of a google map of Australia and pick places at random to pronounce. My personal favourite town name is Wagga Wagga! Ever since then, I have had a love affair with all things Australian (except their sporting teams of course, still very much arch rivals). They’re a very talented bunch. Just look at Home & Away, Kylie Minogue, Chris Hemsworth and tim tams, need I go on? And then I discovered Australian interior designers. Wow. Let me demonstrate by showing you some jaw-dropping designs by Sydney based ARA Design Studio….
P.S – thanks very much for the good luck wishes, I passed my test but I was so nervous (don’t even want to know what I am going to be like on the day of my practical test!)

i love the room that incorporated the map. i am really big into geography and travel and love decorating with maps, such great colors
ReplyDeleteand in sydney there's a village named 'woolloomooloo' pronounced 'wool' 'loo' 'moo' 'loo' really quickly: sheep, toilet, cow, toilet :)
gorgeous! The Australians definitely have something going on. Wagga Wagga ... priceless.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on your test.
Oh my goodness what stunning images the lounge room in the first image is so beautiful & I love the last image of the dining area. The map in the bedroom is a great idea

ReplyDeleteI am in love with that last image. Great design!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all beautiful. Each one is prettier than the next. It has always been a dream of mine to go to Australia. Such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!! I've never played that game before, but it sounds funny! I agree with your comment on my blog- that's why I only have one so far because rugs are so dang expensive! I searched for mine forever because I knew I wanted a jute rug for the living room. After pricing up a ton of different stores, the one I found was at Overstock and it gave me the most rug for my money- it's 9 x 13 ft and was less money than some 8 x 10 ft rugs I looked at in other places. Plus the shipping was free so that sealed the deal.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous spaces. I love the use of plants and water - makes you feel like you have a bit of nature in your own home. I love Australia as a country too. Been twice but really want to go back (oh, and Chris Hemsworth is yum!).
ReplyDeleteP.S. Loved your last post about the South Bank, but maybe I'm biased because I live there :)
I was already in love, but now I am just *dying* to go live there! (c: I'm pretty sure that Anna Spiros and Kellie Collis already had me thinking Aussies are design *geniuses*...this just confirms my suspicions (c:

ReplyDeleteHaha what a fun game-going to have to try it sometime. Love the mounted surfboards on the wall!

Gorgeous! I'm intrigued by the image with the turquoise wall of tiles... or something? It almost looks like fish scales. What the heck do you think that is and why isn't it on my bathroom wall right now?
ReplyDeleteOh! That last image of the dining room with the vintage table - love it love it love it! Great post.
ReplyDeleteAww LOVE your post :) I have never been but it is one of the places I want to visit MOST! I think EVERY Australian person I have met are beautiful and so sweet. Hey - you forgot to mention Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, and the grand daddy of them all - Hugh Jackman. Sigh..haha! Any who, loving all of these photos especially the ones with the columns and the detailed circular ceiling. Beautiful!

Beautiful designs! I love the mixture of modern furniture and traditional/vintage accents and architectural elements. Those outdoor/patio shots make me want to go back to the sunny shores of Mexico or anywhere else warm and away from responsibility!
