Monday Snoop – Lavender Loveliness

Monday, 19 August 2013

For as long as I can remember, I have had an aversion to lavender. I’d like to think that my tolerance levels have got better over the years but I still find myself cringing at the colour or wrinkling my nose at the smell. Worst of all, I am not even sure where my totally unreasonable hatred stems from – it just exists. So I was a little perplexed when I found myself stopped dead in my tracks by a lavender beauty on Veranda. Logic dictates that I should be repelled by it, but strangely, I find it incredibly soothing and for lack of a better word, “pretty”. Of course I am fairly sure that as usual, the kitchen won me over and the rest just fell in to place.

  1. That is so funny :) Lavender does remind me a bit of old ladies, and those sachets you put in your drawers to make them smell nice. But I certainly don't have the same aversion that you do. This particular bunch is pretty gorgeous, and so is the entire house. I'm drooling over that teal velvet sofa. x

  2. I haven't read the article, but are you sure that's not a bunch of lilac instead of lavender? From here, it could go either way, and that could certainly explain why you're not totally repelled! ;)

Either way, gorgeous house. My boys are away from home for a few days, is it okay if I spend the whole time in my jammies pinning things on pinterest...starting here?

  3. That home is to die for! I'm with Lauren, it looks more like bunches of lilac, so maybe that's why you like it so much? The kitchen with the vaulted ceilings looks incredible. I could sit at that counter with a cocktail in hand while someone cooked me dinner ;) I'm so spoiled.

  6. It's so interesting to know you didn't like lavender and its scent. I remember finding out how my husband couldn't stand it after I bought a lot of lavender candles and scented toiletries while the smell filled up our home. Since then I had to stop buying anything lavender. They do look pretty in these interiors.
