This time last year I was frantically preparing for one of the most important days of my life, our wedding. It’s been an incredible year for us – what with Jordan writing and passing his final exams, endless work pressures and our impending move all the way across the continent, we have not had a lot of time left for each other. I hope this doesn’t come across as negative (because it’s anything but) but it has not been an easy year. Then again, who ever said it would be? Marriage takes patience, understanding and sometimes your undivided attention – all of which are in short supply during periods of doubt and worry. But here we are one year later, going strong and as sappy as it sounds, I feel so incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful man in my life. So tomorrow we down tools and take the day off from worrying about shipping and selling the car, packing boxes and watching the savings dwindle. Tomorrow our day will consist of silly paper gifts, lazing in the sun (yes, I said sun) and then going out for a fancy schmancy meal. In short, we will be making time for each other.
