Would you?

Wednesday 31 August 2011

Whilst browsing through hundreds of pictures of interiors over the weekend, I  came across a couple of bedrooms with baths in them. This got me pondering my own bath/bedroom situation and whether or not I would want to put a bath in my bedroom. Aside from the obvious practical issues of moisture on the walls and wet carpets, there is just something incredibly old fashioned and romantic about having a bath in a plush bedroom. I have got to admit that I am undecided! I love the concept in boutique hotels and B&Bs but they have an army of cleaners to ensure the room looks fresh and new every day.  So my question to you is – would you?

  2. My friend had one in her bedroom & she didnt seem to have to many issues with moisture ect, it looked lovely but she had the space for it to work she had a great big loft space as her bedroom lucky girl. I wouldnt manage to get a bath in my room. I always think baths look so cosy & romantic infront of a fireplace

  3. I definitely would but it has to look beautiful and not be the first thing the eye catches in that room.

How utterly tacky is that second room?

  4. My sister once had one like this. I find it odd... I wouldn't ever... too many possible moisture issues.

  6. Interesting question. Hmm, I can't say I love the idea but I do think it's a really great solution for a tight space. It almost feels like it could work for me in a vacation home. You know, that imaginary vacation home of mine:)

  7. I think it is cool for a hotel room but I couldn't imagine putting a bath in the middle of my bedroom at home :)

  8. Eeeehh, in the right space this would have a kind of romantic feel, but I don't know that I'd like it for every day. Seems better for a mountain or beach cottage.

  9. I think it can look beautiful, but I don't know that I'd want to look at a bathtub first thing in the morning every morning. I like Carol's idea of doing it in the vacation home (that I don't have).

  10. I can understand the claw-footed tub because it is like a work of art but I would not want one personally. I have seen larger, jacuzzi-size built-ins in hotels.

  11. It is definitely pretty, but not very practical for the reasons you mentioned. It's like a dream: too good to be true =)

  13. Interesting concept. Not sure if I would though. We did scout out a couple sweets at hotels overseas with big jacuzzis in them. So maybe I DO like the idea... :) For vacations anyhow.

Sorry I've been MIA lately. Happy to catch up on your blog!!

  14. I am not totally against it but I don't think I'd do it - it certainly seems to be hot right now though! A dear friend of mine is in the process of buying a house in England right now and she will have one...so I'm curious to hear how she feels about it after she's lived with it for a while!

  15. hmmm, i think it's a cool idea, but i'm not sure i want a bath in my room. i think i'd be afraid the water would overflow or something. having my own bathroom in my room would be really nice though. ;)

  16. While I think it is a wonderful concept, I don't think I want a bathtub in my bedroom. I think it's cool to have it in a hotel room or a vacation home, though!

    Great collection of images, Meghan!

  18. Wow, I have never seen this before, but I kind of love it! It may not be super practical, but if I had the means to do so, I think I'd go for it. Taking a bath in the middle of a beautiful space sounds much more inspiring than the white tiles that line the walls around my tub. :) Xo, Katie

  19. In a heart beat! If I had a big enough bedroom I would in a heart beat. But to pull it off you need to really have a good space for it.
