I’m not big on the flashy tourist attractions in London. They are generally overcrowded, overrated and overpriced. Until recently, I considered the London Eye to be just that, but an opportunity to experience a private pod for free [filled with champagne] presented itself and well, mama didn’t raise no fool. The weather turned out to be typically British, howling wind coupled with horizontal rain so that there was never any question that we were overlooking London. I travelled lightly (i.e. sans camera) so all we have are a few crappy phone pictures but they honestly don’t do the view any justice. Would I pay the £20 to experience it again? Probably not but I am so glad that I got to see it… for free!
Obligatory couple shot.
Looks pretty amazing. I'm usually in for anything involving champagne :) Cool to see the Shell building and Tower Bridge - my Mum & Dad lived on the Thames near Tower Bridge for a while, Dad worked for Shell all his adult life. x
ReplyDeleteThe London Eye is something we haven't ever thought about doing but a pod filled with Champagne looking at those amazing views, particularly the Shard, certainly sounds inviting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great deal. Gotta' love that free champagne (or free anything)! Honestly, your phone pictures are great, not crappy at all.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for sharing! I have always wanted to know the view from up on the eye. What a lovely couple :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved checking out the London Eye when I visited a few years back - the views are phenomenal! It would've been better with some complimentary champagne though :-)
ReplyDeletemama didn't raise no fool - hah! love it. the picture of you two at the end is delightful :)
ReplyDeletei actually really, really love these photos. they give such timeless london feel and so very moody. me like. great "obligatory couple shot" too :)
ReplyDeletelove these photosxxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely photo of the both of you. It looks romantic up there.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful! I had a nightmare that I was in the Eye and it fell over so I've avoided it like the plague ever since
ReplyDeleteWhat a good looking couple you guys are! I rode the London Eye on my last trip there a few years ago. We went right at sunset, and it was just magnificent. Some of my favorite shots ever are from the very top, the sky a rich inky blue with Big Ben and Parliament all lit up in gold. I'd do it again, but I'm a tourist so I'm allowed ;)
