A touch of the sea…

Thursday, 12 April 2012

I know this has been done to death, but I for one never get tired of coastal-themed interiors (and besides, I am having so much fun with all this beachy stuff this week, just indulge me)! My life-long goal is to own a house on the beach, most of the time it seems completely pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking but then there are other times when I think, why not? Why couldn’t it happen to me? It will be filled with wide distressed floorboards, hand-crocheted throws, jars of sea shells and beach sand, soft natural colours, large abundant windows, painted wooden shutters. Or… you know, something like that. I haven’t really thought about it… much. :)

How about you? Are you a beach cottage dreamer?

  3. Absolutely I'm a beach cottage dreamer. I'd LOVE a house by the beach. Getting to view the ocean every day from your door or window sounds divine. Maybe a vacation house? Someday.

  5. Oh yes, having a beach home or at least have the chance to spend a lot of time in one is truely a dream! Waking up and hearing the waves of the Sea, feeling a fresh but still warm breeze, wide open windows and flattering curtains, sand under my feet when doing yoga in the early morning ... should stop daydreaming ;)

  6. I am a cottage dreamer and anything by the sea - need a vacation, too! That shelving in the bathroom is unique and so effective and it does not take up space. Love the view from the dining table. So serene.

  8. Love these! I pinned that tablescape with the runner- so pretty! I would LOVE a house on the beach. I grew up in Florida and would always admire the gorgeous homes on the beach and think how lucky the people who lived in them were to have a view like that and to be able to step out their back door and be on the beach. I can't imagine anything more amazing!
oh yeah and thanks for checking out my guest post yesterday!!

  9. So clever how these spaces can look elegant, yet relaxed. it's a very popular look here in New Zealand, as most of us live very close to the sea. xxx

  10. Gorgeous images Meghan! And I love how much of this look can translate well to any home. Timber, white, linen, etc are so classic and timeless!

  11. I'm absolutely a beach cottage dreamer! In fact, I even know what house on what beach. Unfortunately, it's just a little out of the price range at $850K! But one of these days, I will definitely live the dream, even it's on a smaller scale :-)

  12. What a lovely collection of beachy images! I can't wait for the summer and some beach time. I am, as we speak, creating a coat rack for my inlaw's beach house with that Emerson quote (your last pic). It's a such a great quote!
