What I’m living in this summer…

Friday, 22 June 2012

Ah! The mighty maxi dress and maxi skirt! Aren’t they lovely? They are stylishly on-trend, keep you cool in the hot muggy months (still waiting for them) and they can hide any manner of abdominal-lack-of-exercise-evils quite nicely indeed. It took me some time to get over feeling a little too ‘mumsy’ wearing them but that is easily rectified by a pair of beautiful sandals, badass shades and my personal favourite, a denim jacket. I’ve got to say, this has got to be my favourite summer look.

What’s your favourite summer look?

Au Naturale…

Thursday, 21 June 2012

Thanks to the Great British Weather, I am usually so pale that I am translucent for the majority of the year. This usually means that beiges, tans and nude tones are a no-no for me as they have a tendency to make me look pale and washed out. Luckily for me, I am still just about hanging onto my Portuguese tan, so I can finally indulge in a colour that I usually have to avoid!

Here are some of my summer favourites.

Now isn’t that clever – Part II

Wednesday, 20 June 2012

I enjoyed putting together my ‘Now isn’t that Clever’ post so much last week that I thought I would do another one again this week! I felt inspired and energised and wanted to go around the house collecting bits I had deemed as ‘junk’ and recycle it into something brilliant (I didn’t actually get as far as that but the intention was there). This week I wanted to take a look at the wonders of recycled lightbulbs and the millions of uses for chalk paint.

Any of these projects appeal to you?

My Fair London – Harley Street

Tuesday, 19 June 2012

Apart from my epic holiday to Portugal, life has been a little like running on a treadmill lately – perfunctory and slightly unsatisfying. I haven’t had much time to myself and since Jordan has been writing exams, we have been semi-confined to the house like weird hermit cave people, only emerging to stock up the cupboards and go to work. So unfortunately I don’t have some overly exciting photos of some adventure to show you today, instead I have a few artsy-fartsy photos of some architectural detailing I took on a lunchtime trip down Harley Street.

I’m working on the next adventure!

That’s not Greece!

Monday, 18 June 2012

I had to blink a couple of times and put my glasses on when I came across this beautiful villa on the internet over the weekend. I recognised the obvious Greek architectural elements but the coastline looked very un-Greece! It is in fact located on a pristine strip of coast… in Mozambique! Just in case you need a little convincing, Bazaruto Views has  its own stretch of beach overlooking the Bazaruto archipelago. It has 5 bedrooms (the master bedroom is on its own private level), several living rooms, a pool, a pizza oven and my favourite aspect… do you see any neighbours? Nope! It’s totally secluded! Since Greece will always hold a special place in my heart and since I am African by birth, I have decided that this is the perfect place for me to live!

Who’s with me?

Make yourself comfortable…

Friday, 15 June 2012

If you passed me on the street, 9 times out of 10 I would probably be rocking a pair of skinny jeans. I practically live in them. Now we all know that in order for skinny jeans to look fabulous, they have to be snug – after lunchtime they start to pinch and by the time I get home, I am just about ready to burn every pair I own (anyone else feel like that???) But there is hope in sight ladies, it’s the emergence of the loose white tee! Finally a trend that doesn't need to be painful to look good! It's just the kind of breezy and effortless style I want to get my hands on this summer.
