Since summer seems to have eluded us, I’m taking us all to Brazil to enjoy a day at this beautiful loft. I can only dream of living in a climate where your house is completely open to the elements and you can enjoy outdoor living all year round! Architect Fernanda Marques describes her design as somewhere in between a country villa and a modernist home designed by one of her masters, German architect Mies van der Rohe. I love the idea of being so close to nature and waking up to that setting every morning! What do you think of it? Could you live in a house that is open to the elements or do you prefer the security of being surrounded by windows and doors?

So many special areas within this house. The second picture is my favorite because of the water and the fireplace. I also love the form over the patio cover. The only thing I don't love are the fake books. I think you can't beat the comfort and aesthetics of real books. The other areas more than make up for it though.
ReplyDeleteI would love to live in a place open to the elements such as this. Of course, the home would have to be in the right climate. Here in Sydney I live in a 1-yr-old apartment with no heat or air condition and I love having the windows open to catch a draft or for some fresh air. My husband and I will definitely have a great outdoor room or an indoor/outdoor living area in our future home. We also want an outside shower!
ReplyDeleteThis place is so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my last posts about Tyra's TypeF and Juicy Couture!
Have a great week :)
But then anyone could walk in and steal your stuff! It does look lovely though. Living in Florida I can't imagine living in a place where bugs wouldn't be a major issue.
ReplyDeleteHoly mother. What would you do if you woke up to this beautifulness every morning?

With the right climate, I could totally live in an open space! I resist shutting my doors and putting up the windows (to turn on the AC) for as long as possible. And most of our house doesn't have any window treatments because I love a pretty view!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Love the lighting in here! Beautiful!

I cannot get over this place. This looks like a mansion to me...not a loft! Wow. Love the bookcase and stone wall and open space and everything else!

This is pretty amazing. I'd love to live this close to nature, but I wonder if this actually works in practice. I've been to Brazil and it definitely rains there! (not to mention the mosquitos etc.). I wonder if they included the option of having retractable windows?
ReplyDeleteThat is beyond gorgeous. I am still wearing a sweater today. Is is really mid June???
ReplyDeleteI need protection from creepy crawlers. Having said that, this looks amazing and I am no considering turning the books on the shelf to face outward.
ReplyDeleteThis would be the most amazing vacation spot...it's so amazing! But I'm pretty sure I'm a windows and doors kind of gal...I love the awesome look of all the neutrals, it really lends itself to the outdoors space!
ReplyDeleteI could definitely live in an open home like this!!Can't believe someone gets to live here, yes PLEASE take us to Brazil!
ReplyDeleteI would have absolutely no problem living here. How amazing!
ReplyDeleteI like how they organized the books in the shelves! Kind of haphazard but organized...nice!

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of indoor outdoor living, especially growing up here in Southern California. I do like to be wall enclosed when I sleep though--bugs, ugh! Love these images!
