Polka Dot Party

Friday, 21 June 2013

At home I tend to favour neutrals, soft tones and natural finishes. As much as I hate the word, I would consider it somewhat conservative. But when it comes to my wardrobe, it’s a whole other story. I love bright colours and interesting patterns. Polka dots in particular are a favourite of mine. I’ve jumped fully on board with the polka dot pants party and got me some really pretty blue ones exactly like these below…

Dippy

Thursday, 20 June 2013

I’ve been my own worst enemy when it comes to stress lately and when my hands have not been occupied, I have let the “what ifs” scare the daylights out of me. So on a whim in John Lewis last week, I picked up a pair of knitting needles and wool and began knitting for the first time in almost 15 years . It was wonderful. I went to bed that night after knitting for 3 hours and fell right to sleep (that NEVER happens to me). I seem to have been bitten by the crafty bug! My next project will be something dip dyed. Etsy goodies have been my inspiration…

Look up!

As we carted the umpteenth bin bag filled to the brim with junk out of the house on Sunday, I bewilderedly plonked myself on a box and pondered where exactly I managed to put all of this stuff for the last 5 years. I mean we live in a dolls house for goodness sake! I can only surmise that I became very clever with how I hid stored stuff.  Well not anymore people. Our new house will have clever and accessible storage (no junk stuffed in to dark corners), and I will not hoard. There now I have said it you can hold me to it. I’m really liking the idea of open shelving, specifically the under-utilised space above a door. I’m just slightly apprehensive about my poor DIY skills - wouldn’t want to walk through the door and get KO’d my a shelf!

More of our French Odyssey!

Wishful Thinking

If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen that wine was a rather large feature of our holiday to France. I love a little tipple but I know very little about the stuff (nor have much desire to learn), I know what I like and that’s about it. Jordan, on the other hand is fascinated by wine and wine making (I hasten to add in a non-annoying way which I find common in most wine “buffs”) and harbours a not-so-secret desire to pack in his job and set up a vineyard somewhere gorgeous. Of course I have zero objections to this and will happily tag along for the ride and the wine samples. That’s what made our trip to France all the more special.

Monday Snoop– The perfect light…

Monday, 17 June 2013

Oh the glamour of my life at the moment! I am currently sitting amongst a pile of half-packed boxes, I have not brushed my hair (for the whole weekend), I have broken and chipped nails and I smell like Eau de Hard Labour. I can assure you, it’s so not pretty. Which is why I am spending every spare moment I have, perched on a box or sprawled over bubble wrap, trawling the internet for inspiration for our new home. Anything pretty, neat and tidy is gets pinned. You’ll also notice that I have been posting a few homes from Spanish magazine El Mueble. Apart from the homes being jaw-droppingly beautiful, the light in the images seems to draw me in like a moth to a flame. It’s soft, warm and inviting. I am not sure if it’s a clever little Photoshop trick or if the light is this incredible in Spain?

Thoughts?

And then the rains came!

Friday, 14 June 2013

It feels good to say that my days of talking about lack of sunshine and endless rain may soon be over. I’m sure you are just as relieved as I am! You may have heard but summer seems to have skipped the UK once again and most of us are still in boots and light coats. And now the rain has come! I find myself desperately in need of a rain coat, preferably one that doesn't make you look like a TV villain or a flasher. My heart definitely belongs to the classic Burberry trench but since I have no intention of selling an organ on the black market, I am on the hunt for a cheaper version.

Happy weekend everyone!
