And breathe!

Monday, 23 January 2012

January’s days are numbered… and not a moment too soon! The cold, dark and grey days have felt particularly long this year! The weather most certainly affects what inspires me – like at the beginning of winter I could think of nothing else but dark panelled timber rooms and roaring fires, but now I only want honey coloured floors, white walls and the unmistakable smell of sea air blowing through voile covered French doors! I found a beautiful all-white house yesterday that blew me away! Now I know I always say that I am not usually drawn to all-white interiors (and realistically, I don’t think I could live in a house this white) but I still can’t resist falling in love with them! I For me, this house has the balance of all-white just right – I really love the neat black touches that break up the white and I couldn’t have chosen better furniture myself!

What do you think? Are you drawn to fresh bright rooms during the colder weather?

Leather Love!

Friday, 20 January 2012

TGIF! Phew! For a second, I didn’t think I was going to make it! My weekend plans will be starting with a very large drink to end a very crazy week! I also hope to be spending some time with my other half as we celebrate our 8th anniversary (I teased him mercilessly last night about the very first day he awkwardly asked me ‘to be his girlfriend’ in our local ice-cream shop. I reluctantly agreed but neither of us were sure what to do afterwards! Do we kiss, do we talk, do we just sit here and stare at each other? In the end I remember shuffling out and holding hands clumsily praying my mother didn’t come around corner and see me with a boy)! But I am getting off track… back to the subject of my blog post, the leather jacket! I think I have been looking for good leather jacket since I was old enough to walk and sadly, the search continues. Thanks to Pinterest, I was able to narrow down the style I am really drawn to (something with big lapels and a bad attitude). Now just to find the real deal!

Do you own a leather jacket? What’s your style?

Can’t get you out of my mind!

Thursday, 19 January 2012

It’s certainly not a bad thing to have on your mind… right? It beats worrying about bills, my steady decline of vitamin D and when I am next going to have to endure a haircut! It’s been an incredibly hectic week so I thought I would post something soothing and calming! Isn’t it just perfect?

Shelves in the bedroom…

Wednesday, 18 January 2012

I can’t do a blog post without acknowledging the ridiculously cold day we had yesterday! I was subjected to sniggers all throughout the morning as I refused to take off my coat, ear warmers and gloves for the first hour of my work day. Ok, I may have been a little over-dramatic! I do wonder how people cope in places colder than London!? Needless to say, I spent the whole day wishing I was snuggled up in bed with hot chocolate and good books instead of trudging through the dreary ice-cold January streets.  Since I can’t stay in bed, I thought I would bring the beds to us! Lately I am really drawn to over-cluttered bedrooms, particularly those with shelves above the bed. This is definitely something I intend to do the second I work out how to hang a shelf on a wall no thicker than a piece of cardboard!

Periwinkle…

Tuesday, 17 January 2012

There is no rhyme or reason for this post… I just felt like posting a bit of colour to brighten up my day! I was going through some of my inspiration folders over the weekend and realised I save a lot of pictures featuring periwinkle blue. It’s the kind of colour that instantly uplifts my mood! Are you a fan of periwinkle? Would you use it in your home?

A buttercup yellow haven!

Monday, 16 January 2012

Thanks very much for all the well wishes I received from Friday’s post. I spent the whole of the weekend with an ear-to-ear smile!

Now onto the business of spectacular houses… I’ve been busy snooping around other people’s homes again, trying to figure out how they manage to make their spaces look so inviting and beautiful. Common denominators here seem to be honey coloured glossy floors, thick Persian rugs and homely furniture. There also seems to be the perfect balance of bright, clean white walls and natural light paired with warm sumptuous textiles. (My favourite room in the house is the open plan living room/library). ‘Where is it’ I hear you ask? Well Sweden of course! Duh!
