Hello little garden flat…

Good morning all! It’s the final week of work before we break up for Christmas – can I get a whoop whoop! To celebrate this good mood, I have found us a bright, beautiful house tour to keep us smiling! This cluttered garden flat stole my heart with it’s rich colours and over-cluttered walls. I particularly love the all the bold jewel colours coupled with the strong bright patterns of the various textiles. On closer inspection, I spotted a few things that have been on my radar for a while – take a look at the gorgeous patterned ottoman from TK Maxx in the living room (also spotted the Ikea sideboard and rug too). I’m also nuts about the Moroccan wedding blanket in the bedroom and the London print in the bathroom… I could go on but instead I will let you marvel! Happy Monday all!

Office Party Dilemma!

Choosing what to wear for the office party is a hard decision normally, couple this with a weather forecast of gale force winds and snow and the decision becomes damn near impossible. Every year I spend ages choosing an outfit that is glamorous without being tarty and then the day arrives and it snows and I couldn’t care less what I wear so long as I am warm and don’t kill myself on the ice. This year I’ve opted for a little black number and some boots (with spare heels for later). Tons of companies have been having their office parties lately and London has been awash with tottering women with big hair, skimpy dresses and sky high heels navigating the tubes. How do you do it ladies? What’s the secret? Don’t you get cold and fall over?

Funny thing about Christmas parties is that I always vow to stay for one drink and end up propping up the bar singing Christmas carols and coming home in a shopping trolley. What can I say… I’m a classy lady! Happy weekend all!

All I want for Christmas…

Some people just have an innate ability to buy people good gifts. Due to my exquisite taste, I count myself amongst them… only kidding! I honestly don’t know whether I give good gifts or not, I mean people nod their heads and smile and hug and do all the polite things after receiving my gifts  but I know I do the same thing, even if the gift I am holding is the last thing I wanted! I love my guy to bits but gifts are not his specialty. After one particularly disastrous (expensive) earing set, we decided to give each other Christmas lists. In the Spirit of Christmas or not, we have never looked back! My list usually consists of a few pie-in-the-sky silly things (like this year I put a Pashley Poppy Bike and a treadmill on my list… you know what they say, if you don’t ask you don’t get) and a lot of cheap little goodies so he can pick and choose according to what he can afford and what he likes. Do you give wishlists or do you trust your partner to get it right?

Here’s what my list is looking like this year:

Since I finished my interior design course, I have been itching to start a new project and learn something new. Since I spend a huge chunk of my time slouched in front of a computer screen, I am keen to do something that involves working with my hands. I have finally settled on something that requires me to get my hands dirty and caters for my almighty chair obsession – reupholstering! I’ve done a little research and thanks to amazing bloggers and tons of websites, there is a wealth of reupholstering info out there for amateurs like me.  Now just to find a chair with good bones that needs some love and care! Have you/would you reupholster something? If you have, what am I getting myself in for?

A new discovery…

I was browsing online for Christmas presents… for the family… ok, maybe I might have been looking for presents for me! Anyways, I came across a beautiful framed print (from John Lewis of all places) and it was love at first sight! I did a little research and found out that it was done by Wiltshire-based artist Sally Swanell. If you asked me to conjure up a picture of my dream home, it would look a little something like Sally Swanell’s prints – the little red brick chimneys, sprawling grounds and dormer windows have been plucked right out of my dream home fantasies!  The Christmas prints are particularly charming but my favourite has got to be the ‘Manor House’ in the 2nd picture below…
