Asia Inspired…

Thursday, 23 June 2011

I am still on my quest to find a photography course and take the perfect photo! Through my internet travels over the weekend, I unexpectedly stumbled across these beautiful photos taken across Asia. Fabulous, no? I haven’t visited Asia yet but it’s definitely apparent that I am missing out on something really special. These photos have made me more determined to learn how to capture the everyday moments like this.

You can contact the photographer or buy prints here.

On a totally unrelated note, how captivating is this photo of a couple kissing right in the middle a riot in Vancouver?

Adult tantrum…

Wednesday, 22 June 2011

Well today really sucked! I sat down with my cup of coffee and my daily bowl of fat-free, sugar free cardboard to post my thought-provoking and witty blog post only to receive this error: "The response to the POST method received from the blog server was invalid:The HTTP response was missing the required Location header." WHAT the hell does that mean exactly? Why does it have to be some form of Klingon and not plain English? As the Laptop Whisperer had already left for work, I was properly stuck. Now, 9 hours later, the problem seems to have magically fixed itself but now my blog post seems totally irrelevant! No worries though, I will show you what I did to counter-act the day’s crappiness (I bought shoes)!

On a more serious note, does anyone use Live Writer, and if so, do you get these error message a lot?

My Kindle awaits followed by a cup of hot chocolate! (P.S – it would be a bottle glass of wine but the card machine wasn’t working at the corner shop. Go figure!)

24-7 Loft

Monday, 20 June 2011

Since summer seems to have eluded us, I’m taking us all to Brazil to enjoy a day at this beautiful loft. I can only dream of living in a climate where your house is completely open to the elements and you can enjoy outdoor living all year round!  Architect Fernanda Marques describes her design as somewhere in between a country villa and a modernist home designed by one of her masters, German architect Mies van der Rohe. I love the idea of being so close to nature and waking up to that setting every morning! What do you think of it? Could you live in a house that is open to the elements or do you prefer the security of being surrounded by windows and doors?

My Fair London – Borough Market

Friday, 17 June 2011

Over the weekend, for the first time in a loooonnngg time, we didn’t have exams to study for or assignments to hand in, so off we went to the market! Most of the big cities I have been to have their own huge food market that serves as a tourist attraction as well as somewhere to buy food – well Borough Market is London’s big food market. I always forget how busy it gets there but I was able to snap a couple of photos to show you the madness! I had a driving lesson in the afternoon so I wasn’t able to indulge but they sell champagne and cocktails by the glass for you to wonder around, get liquored up and buy stuff you don’t need. Sounds great huh?

This pub just outside the market was Bridget Jones’ flat in the movie! That was her apartment right at the top!

The Refinery

Thursday, 16 June 2011

This past weekend we headed to the city for a walk-about. Now I don’t normally like to do this as my body goes on autopilot and thinks it is going to work, but a very unusual phenomenon occurs in London on the weekends – it turns into an eerie zombie movie set by emptying out! I really love wondering around the quieter streets of London taking photos and taking up as much of the sidewalk as I want. We strolled past The Refinery – and I had to do a double take! If you have read my blog before, you will know how much I love the rustic industrial look and The Refinery has it in spades! I am nuts about the mismatched chairs and the light fittings (again). I checked out menu when I got home and I will definitely be dropping by for lunch!
