Craving Culture…

Wednesday, 25 May 2011

Buon giorno! My next holiday is in the final stages of being booked and it’s a sun/sea/sand affair again. Don’t get me wrong, my idea of absolute bliss is lying on a sun-soaked beach with a good book, sipping a piña colada and moving only very occasionally to cool off in the pool/sea or to get another piña colada. But lately I find myself craving a bit of history and culture. It is impossible for me to choose my favourite holiday destination but in terms of culture and history, Rome tops the list! There was nothing more exciting than walking through the Roman Forum seeing remnants of an ancient city or standing in the Colosseum imagining the echo of a roaring crowd! Here’s a little trip down my Roman holiday memory lane…

Feeling Blue…

Tuesday, 24 May 2011

Cobalt blue: are you a fan? This colour seems to be popping up everywhere at the moment and luckily it happens to be my favourite colour! I won’t just settle for any old blue though, it has to be this striking vivid blue! I couldn’t resist putting together some of my favourite cobalt blue goodies on the market at the moment…

Cobalt Blue

Dress; Cuff; Belt; Ring; Necklace; Platform Shoes; French Connection Clutch; Bracelet; Bowl; Cushion; Scarf; Wonky Recycled Vase; Teapot; Nailpolish; Glass

And of course, I couldn’t not post about some of my favourite cobalt blue looks from the red carpet!

Africa Styling!

Monday, 23 May 2011

Let’s start the week off properly by looking at some interior spaces that will take your breath away! Below are some pictures from the portfolio of South African interior designers Cecil and Boyd (I’m homesick again, can you tell?). I think I gravitate more to South African design as it mixes ethnic African elements with sophisticated European styles – I really really love the contrasting textures and colours! Here’s to a great Monday everyone!

My Fair London – Street Art

TGIF people! I feel a little guilty for missing my usual Friday ‘My Fair London’ post last week, but I’m hoping to make up for it by showing you some A.M.A.Z.I.N.G London street art! I can’t believe that I have lived here for over 6 years and I still get excited when I spot a Banksy! Europe in general has some very impressive street art but London definitely has my favourites! Below are some photos taken in the Waterloo Station underpass during the Banksy-organised Cans Festival. Pretty cool huh? The third image is my favourite…
