Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness…

After 8 years of living in this country, I haven’t quite adapted to the weather conditions and seasonal changes in comparison to Africa. My usual stance is just to assume that it is going to rain every day, and that way I am seldom disappointed. The reprieve from the wet weather usually comes in the drier months of autumn but be warned, if you blink you will miss it. One day the trees are lush and green, then the next week they turn golden and the week after that… BAM - they are totally bare and it’s freezing cold! Just like that winter begins. So when autumn comes around these parts, we grasp it with both hands and hang on to it for as long as possible!

  1. Yep, looking outside today doesn't look anything as lovely as your photos! The trees against the blue sky look beautiful... Have a lovely (if somewhat grey and rainy) day xo

  2. Gorgeous photos, I'm so impressed. Autumn is my favourite season, although I'm sure a Hawke's Bay autumn is quite different to a London one. But after what seems like a long winter, I'm pretty happy that we're heading into summer. x

  4. I love autumn, the colours are so beautiful, but I'm always shocked how quickly the leaves fall and, BAM, it's winter and we're in for the longgggggg haul!

  8. Great photos! I love the colors and the light in fall and am always sad that it's over so quickly. The tree in front of our house only has a handful of leaves left and it is already too cold for my taste...

  9. those are gorgeous photos! i don't think i was ever in england in the autumn (just the other 3 seasons); but it sounds much like portland, we get a couple weeks of this beautiful dry golden weather and then it's gone so fast, replaced by months of rain. xo
