One of the biggest challenges I find with blogging every day is trying to find non-clichéd or over-used descriptive words for my posts. I often find myself scratching my head and searching through the dictionary before giving up and using ‘beautiful’! Does anyone know of a book of adjectives for Bloggers? Wouldn’t that be useful?
After spending a good 15 minutes staring at this house for my usual Monday house tour, I concluded that there are no better words to describe this place than: ‘rustic’ and ‘disarmingly charming’! If you want to woo me, show me a house with wide distressed wooden floorboards, open shelving and masses of personal clutter to make it feel like a home.

P.S – We had our first snow of the winter over the weekend! It started falling late on Saturday night, and given the fact that snow is still very much a novelty for us, we couldn’t resist a late night snowball fight!

ReplyDeleteSo funny! I'm always thinking what else can I say besides amazing, beautiful, fantastic, lovely, gorgeous...lol, you know them all. I remember seeing the woman judge from Dancing with the Stars interviewed and she said before each show she reviews a list of 200 adjectives to get her vocabulary working for the reviews. I need that list. If I locate it, I'll send your way. :)

ReplyDeleteMeghan, you are absolutely right about the use of adjectives and I often struggle to avoid the classic 'beautiful'...but this house is really impressing and it has the strong character of a place that it's actually lived and not just displayed for a magazine...

A really fascinating mix of styles and materials in this house, but I admit that I would have to spring clean some of the decorative clutter!

ReplyDeleteThose pictures are great. The red undertones on the distressed table work well with the overall color palette for that room. I like how the doors on the cabinet in the background are hanging a little off.
