The burbs revisited!

I am currently writing this from the discomfort of an air bed, which along with a few pieces of cutlery and crockery, are the only items of furniture left in our house. I’m feeling a little fragile with bruised knees, broken nails and an alarmingly sore throat after yesterday’s packing-the-shipping-crate fun and games. But despite all this, it was super cool to see our belongings begin their journey to Sydney. I’ll be spending the next couple of days cleaning the house and generally freaking out (in a good way). I thought for my last London post that we could take another walk down memory lane to the neighbourhood that has been my home for the past 5 years. If I could do it all again, I would still never live anywhere else in London.

P.S – apologies for my absence in blogland of late but it’s all been a little bit hectic… and it’s only bound to get worse. I promise to catch up on all your news soon!

  4. Lovely photos, Meghan. That ivy clad home reminds me of my time in England when my parents were living in a similar house in Surrey. Enjoy the time you have left in England - what a great excuse to not have to cook :) x

  5. Your neighborhood looks lovely. It's totally understandable that packing and the stress that a move halfway across the world gets to you at one point.

  6. Such a beautiful hood. I am tingling all over thinking where I'd live when I go over. You and I are swapsies. I am enquiring about international removalists at the moment and they've quoted me for 1 cubic metre (no idea what that means?) if you could please share what volume you ended up shipping over (when all's more settled, I have time to wait)I'd be very interested to know.

  7. So, so beautiful. What neighborhood is this? I looks so idyllic, no wonder you're going to miss it! If you need a bit of plane reading, I recommend Bill Bryson's "In a Sunburnt Country" about his time in Australia. It was really funny and should ease you into your new home (and stave off all that packing/unpacking stress!) delightfully. xo

  11. Oh feel better, dear. I'm sort of not surprised that you got a bit sick. This is STRESSFUL! I love this neighborhood! What a lovely place to have made your home these years, and I imagine you're going to miss it terribly. Just remember all the reasons why you're taking the exiting leap. This is the hard part. Two worlds colliding, planted firmly in neither.
