Monday Snoop – The Perfect Retreat

Phew. What a crazy weekend! After I got over my antics on Thursday night, I spent most of the weekend culling everything that wasn’t nailed down. We carried furniture up and down the stairs, we washed, we binned, we scrubbed, (we clipped ankles on sharp corners!!!), we bickered, we despaired. After the sheer amount of crap that we threw out over the weekend, it’s hard to believe that we arrived on British soil with just a suitcase and hope in our hearts. Our house is now an empty shell. I don’t even have a bedside table – do you know how many times I have leaned over to get a sip of water and nearly fallen flat on my face? Too many to count. The urge to snoop in other people’s well-put-together abodes has never been so strong! So without further ado, I give you a guest house for a weekend retreat in the Sonoma hills. Interior Designer Nicole Hollis has created a work of art! The house boasts all of my favourite things: warmth, character, soft neutral tones and a fireplace that made me weak at the knees!

  1. Poor you, I have to say that your weekend sounds hellish! I'm sure you're happy it's all done now though. It must be strange to sit in that empty house now... Gorgeous little holiday home, the perfect retreat to enjoy some quiet time and I could see myself snuggling up on that lovely window seat. xo

  2. They have Mariage Freres tea in the kitchen! Sold. When can I move in? I love the butterfly tile in the bathroom. But what I love even more is the mental image of you reaching for your non-existent night table. ;)

  7. ha, i can completely picture reaching for a glass water and almost falling out of bed. it must feel strange to be in this sort of limbo state and definitely would trigger my snooping urges too (which i naturally already have!). this house is so relaxing. that tile is such a pretty backdrop for the tub. xo

  13. Oh wow moving across the ocean is coming closer. It's unbelievable how fast we collect things and fill up a house/apartment. I can totally imagine you reaching for a glass of water and almost falling out of your bed, it would happen to me too. The house is super calming, no wonder you gravitate towards it. Love the tub sitting on the wooden blocks.
