Windows, doors and blinds!

I primarily choose a restaurant because I know/have heard the food is very good. Atmosphere and service comes second but are still very important to me. It’s an added bonus when the restaurant I choose is a little unusual – something out of the norm. It becomes a talking point for everyone eating there and soon the dining area is filled with a buzz (what a clever way to create immediate atmosphere)! It’s a little too far away for me to visit but I came across Bon Restaurant in Bucharest and thought it would tick all the boxes for me. Over 200 reclaimed doors, windows and blinds were used as wall panelling. The seating arrangement is relaxed and the lighting is simple and cozy. Apart from the obvious aesthetic, the food and service is not too shabby either, with Tripadvisor reviewers giving Bon 4.5 stars!

  2. Love love love the old doors on the walls! We saw a pair of old doors re-purposed as a headboard in a cool antique store a while back but it was ridiculously expensive, so now I am on the hunt to snag two old door for free/cheap and recreate it myself.

  3. It's PERFECT. I don't even know where to start! The subway tile is just the icing on the cake, but the real scene stealer are those doors. And the black tufted bench. And the new metal chairs in those fun colors. Yep. Next trip: Bucharest. Done. xo

  4. AMAZING! I have always been one to salvage old doors and windows so this is super cool for me to see this. I wish someone would do this more often because all of that goodness usually goes into the land fill sadly. I wish I could save all of those beauties. Glad these doors and windows have a second chance at life in such a beautiful space.

  6. It's very cool indeed. Love the blue booth seating. I'm working on the interior of a restaurant at the moment. They have amazing food but the decor is a bit dated. It's such a fun project. x
