Monday Snoop – Serena and Lily

It’s been a not-so-secret dream of mine to one day own a little shop, preferably somewhere on the coast, and to fill it with beautiful things and hopefully make some money from it. It’s just a pipe dream but I have done a little research, enough to know that not only is it risky but it’s very, very hard work. I admire anyone who does, and does it well. Serena and Lily (originally online retailers) have done just that by opening their very first store in the Hamptons in Beach Market, Wainscott. The coastal themed shop blends seamlessly into the background and offers their signature linens, artwork, vintage finds and custom surfboards painted by Serena herself. I have pinned all of these images to remind myself that it can be done!

  2. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to do it! Though I have to admit that the hours stuck in the same place (unless you can employ a shop assistant) would drive me nuts. That's less about hard work and more about having to be in the same location for 12ish hours every day - not sure I'd like that... Have a lovely start to the week xo

  3. OMG, I want one of those surf boards! My husband is a surfer, and I've been trying to find a cool board to have in our home as a piece of art - these would be perfect. x

  6. I've only been to the Hamptons once, and this store didn't exist back then. I'm not a beach girl (I think we've established that by now) but I'd definitely make the trip out there just for this little shop. You could totally open a shop in Oz on a quiet strip of beach like this! Think of how lovely the sea breeze would feel floating in through your windows. Ahh, I'd never get any work done, I'd just plop myself in that hammock.

  7. I'm sure you would do great at it and I'll definitely shop in your future store since I've been re-pinning your selected pieces from previous posts.

  9. That shop is so cute and I love all the beachy goodies in it too. Owning my own shop, where I would sell my refurbished/revamped estate sale finds in combination with an interior design studio, is a big dream of mine as well. It's just such a daunting step to take...

  12. We've been dying to get out to the Hamptons and see the store. We're huge fans of S & L and think their style so fresh and fun. Have you seen the new artwork thy're selling? It's fab!
