Monday Snoop – Island Living

I’m in good spirits today! Yesterday temperatures peaked at 18 degrees celcius. The barbeque was dusted off, the garden furniture was hosed down and we spent a lovely afternoon out on the deck drinking beer and eating burgers. I am not so foolish to believe that the cold weather is behind us but it’s amazing what a bit of fresh air and warm weather can do for your morale. Summer doesn’t seem too long away and I am already planning for lazy days spent outside. In an effort to spread the good cheer, I thought I would post another Spanish beauty – this time set on the idyllic island of Mallorca. Traditional? Yes. Old? No! The house was actually built in 2002 and I think the owners and designers have done a fantastic job of blending a new house into the surrounding landscape. The interiors have been kept subtle and classic but it’s the outside areas that had my jaw dropping. In particular, the small terrace with an outdoor fireplace – imagine quiet autumn (and summer) nights spent sipping red wine and watching the stars from that prime position…

  1. Oh wow....what wouldn't I give right now to be able to pack my bags and just fly off to spend two weeks there... Love the way they didn't build anything flash, but it fits right in with the landscape. xo

  2. That's heaven! Each image is drool worthy. I'm crazy about wooden beams and they have wishbone chairs too! I'll definitely bookmark this.

  3. Oh my gosh. Seriously heavenly. Slowly but surely Spain is climbing my list of places I have to visit. And for reasons just like this! I love the rocking chair in the living room on its own rug, that dining room furniture and VIEW out of those windows!, and that hallway with the bookshelves. That's where I'd hang out. Barefoot, preferably dressed in linen, with a nice glass of sangria. Wow. A girl can dream!

  5. Since laying eyes on these images I am daydreaming about staying in this house on my vacation. The house looks so comfortable and Mallorca is such a beautiful place. And I spot a dining room full of wishbone chairs...

  6. Loving those alfresco areas, how beautiful. It's pouring with rain here today, and I have to say I'm really enjoying it - I made hot chocolates with marshmallows for the kids after school, and we're all hibernating a bit. I know we've got months ahead of us though :) x

  7. Oh I can just feel that warm air through those beautiful windows! The contrast with the warm organic colors and white with the wood beams sends me over the moon. Gosh I need warmth. Thanks for these, so inspirational!!!!
