Monday Snoop – an artist’s beach retreat…

I am usually sold on anything that includes the words “beach” and “retreat” and this little cottage is certainly no exception. Situated in the laid-back tourist town of Trancoso in Brazil, the cottage once belonged to local ceramist  João José Calazans but it was recently snapped up by an ex-executive of JP Morgan Paris – who no doubt fell in love with its simple charm and beauty. I can definitely relate to the need to flee the rat race and opt for a simpler way of life . I could happily live out the rest of my days besides that sparking blue pool.

How about you? Could you give up the hustle and bustle of city life for something like this (I think I know the answer to that…)

  1. This is a beautiful retreat, indeed. Being raised and brought up as a city girl, it's a big leap. We've been toying with the idea of settling in a small town on an island that has no mall nor cinema. I'm sure we could carry on living without these two. I think I'd miss not being able to buy certain types of food and ingredients in the local grocery store. Oh and a state of the art hospital in case of emergencies. However yes, we're ready to give up the hustle and bustle of the city.

  4. yes! i would love to give it all up for a place like that. however for some reason i have this very media influenced idea of brazil and it kind of scares me. it's silly i know. i just need to go there and see it all for myself, right? right.

  7. You're kidding me. This cannot be real! I'm a tried and true city girl, but whoa! This house can change a person. I could do without the Bob Marley painting, haha, but I love how trippy the place is -- you can't tell what's indoors and what's outdoors, with all those plants and skylights and glass-less windows. Stunning. And that pool! Sign me up.
