Dark Days

Dark (mainly black) walls have been tearing up my Pinterst boards lately. I think I might be mildly obsessed by them – they are sophisticated, dramatic and just downright fabulous. I know it’s something that gets banded around the blogosphere quite often but I just couldn’t resist immortalising my favourites on Wishful Thinking. As I put this post together, I asked my husband what he thought (men have a funny way of cutting through design trend crap and simplifying things) and I got a wrinkled nose and a “don’t even think about it look” but after scrolling through some examples I could see that not even he was immune.

Would you?

  2. I never considered it before but when I saw New York Architect, Winka Dubbeldam's house in Elle Decor, I began to appreciate black walls. And having seen the beautiful interiors you've posted- Yes, I would love to have at least one room in my dream home with a black wall.

  3. I love the dark too! I'm trying to convince my husband to let me do at least one wall dark. He thinks it looks like a cave, but I think it's elegant!

  4. I love dark walls too. Have you seen the very dark navy as well? Love those too! I feel like it would be a bit hard to pull off, and it would have to be in the right sort of room, but it looks so lovely!

  8. Well, considering that my favorite combo is black & white, these appeal to me quite a bit. I have to say that as a photographer, I really love how the photographer/s have been able to bring out the shadows of the richness without compromising the highlights. Impressive! Pretty much eye candy for me in both the design and photography over here :-)

  9. Big big fan of dark walls but in my own home I have only gone dark in the smallest rooms. Probably out of fear that I have to repaint ;) Thinking about painting our doors black though...

  10. What I love about black is that my fav pops of colour look amazing against it. I would definitely use it in my home, but maybe just one wall :) x
