Festive favourites…

Following the success of our office bake-off (by success I mean I didn’t poison anyone), we have decided to dust off our baking trays and have a bit of a festive throw-down. I spent yesterday evening browsing through recipe books/Pinterest looking for inspiration when it occurred to me that besides the odd Christmas cookie, I have never baked anything festive. My limited skills will probably have me leaning towards mince pies but I am not too sure.

How about you? What’s your favourite festive treat? Do you have any easy-peasy recipes you could swing my way?

Festive Foods

gingerbread cookies; christmas puds; festive mocha; panettone; eggnog macarons; mince pies

  1. These all look gorgeous! I always make my grandmother's biscuits (that's one of the very few recipes I don't share - sorry) and Nigella's Christmas cupcakes (pics and recipe blogged on Monday) during December. Quite often I also make a Panettone pudding or a Christmas tiramisu... I just like to cook and bake... ;-)

  2. I made the cutest biscuits a couple of years ago with the kids. You use crushed up boiled sweets to create 'stained glass' cookies. They were a hit! I found a similar recipe here - http://www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes/christmas/edible-decorations. x

  3. Yummy. Chocolate chip cookies for easy peasy that I learned during a trip to Seychelles. http://www.designgourmande.blogspot.com/2012/10/cookies-washi-tape.html I would love to be able to make Creme Brulee one day but would still need to buy a torch set which is not available in the Middle East. I'll add that to my Christmas wish list :) Happy baking.

  4. try making peppering mint bark - melt dark chocolate and spread it on a cookie sheet covered in wax or parchment paper. let is set in the fridge. then melt some white chocolate, spread it on top, sprinkle some crushed candy canes on it, then let it set in the fridge. once it's solid break off pieces and enjoy!

  5. YUM!! I have been more into gingerbread than ever before this year. I wish I could say it was from scratch but it's a mix I got from Costco :) Still really good though. I also tried making caramel/chocolate dipped pretzels this year. Super yummy but harder than they sound!

  8. These all look wonderful and I've just found my Christmas tree cookie cutter at the back of a kitchen drawer so I wonder if I could make some pretty ones like those in the photo!
Thanks for your lovely comment and good luck with the mince pies!

  9. Love the fact that you admitted not poisoning anyone... We always wonder if we might do so when we take up baking. You have got to try the Salted Chocolate Caramels from Smitten Kitchen - so easy to make and everyone will be impressed!
