Go pack a bag! Quick!

It’s been a little while since I took an exotic trip and believe me, that strain is starting to show. White sandy beaches, blazing sunshine and the smell of coconuts seem to be all I can think about lately! Of course I do what any other person would do, and torture myself even more by browsing through exotic travel brochures and websites. I started off in Bali and came across the Alila Villas in Uluwatu– I was initially attracted by the odd timber cage-like structures of the cabanas. It turns out that the rest of the hotel is rather spectacular!

Let’s take a look…

And last, but not least, my favourite design aspect of the hotel… the ceiling details in the restaurant:

Mad about magenta!

I have to fess up and say that when it comes to using colour in my home, I am known to be a big fat sissy! I tend to favour solid, neutral, earthy tones over vibrant brights and patterns. This has always worked well for me (I find these tones particularly soothing and easy to live with) but lately I have been feeling a shift and the craving for colour is strong! One such colour that I really want to incorporate is magenta. It’s bold, uplifting, unusual and best of all, it seems to go with pretty much everything!

Are you a fan of magenta? Have you used it in your home?

A day trip to Oxford…

The great thing about living in England is that  you can pretty much get from one side of the country to the other, in a matter of hours (notwithstanding train delays and the horrendous London traffic of course). I am secretly scolding myself because this should technically mean that we have explored the whole country, but unfortunately this is not the case. We are working on it one city at a time though. I’ll leave you with some pictures I took of our on-a-whim trip to Oxford. Despite being the coldest day in May EVER, we had an absolute blast eating tapas (random I know, but Oxford sure knows how to do tapas) and exploring the university buildings.
