The little red house…

IMG_5551Central Park – Wishful Thinking

I’m back from five crazy days in New York and I miss the hustle and bustle already! I know I promised photos but at last count, I took over 750 photos so I still have a lot of sorting to do before I can do a NY post justice!  So keep posted and I might tell you a little tale of my very harrowing experience in a New York taxi. In the meantime, let’s take a look at another one of my dream houses. You would be forgiven for thinking that this little red house is a barn somewhere in America but it’s actually perched on a wooded hilltop in Sweden! The beautiful green door and the neat white little windows are my favourite features but just take a minute to imagine this landscape covered in snow with fairy lights twinkling in the trees. Magical!

  2. I'm looking forward to some NY pictures! That house is quite sweet though I do think it looks a bit "IKEA showhome". Nothing wrong with IKEA, but for my taste it lacks in "depth"...if that makes sense. xo

I know what you mean. :) Quite a lot of my dream house is informed by what I could do with it at Christmas or what it would look like under snow. I'm that obsessed. The positioning of the fireplace would be decided based on where I have the Christmas tree. I've got to have a certain staircase, so that I can twist a Christmas swag round the balustrades. And I'd love an entrance hall, so that I could have a real tree in the centre, with white lights and glass icicles.

And the latter, at least, isn't going to happen. For one thing, all I do is complain about having to dust it for the other eleven months of the year, for another, the house valuation on any property with rooms beyond the basics will be well out of my reach.

But anyway, I kind of expected the interiors to be more rustic-y (Probably another symptom of my Christmas-addled mind) but they're still lovely. I'd love to come in from the snow and sit in front of that fireplace.
