I spent some of the weekend cleaning up the files on our laptop (a very boring task) and got side-tracked going through our holiday photos. It was just the kind of medicine I needed! As stressed and nervous as I am about our move, it was good to remember how very lucky we have been to explore the world – and even luckier, it feels like it is only the beginning! Unsurprisingly, I found myself lingering over the magnificent beaches we have been to and in doing so, I realised how very different they have all been. The beach is a special place for me, where I do most of my deepest thinking. Problems are solved, hurts are healed and I always leave feeling lighter and happier. Here are some shots of my favourite beaches around the world:
Do you have a favourite beach?
The Red Beach and Oia – Santorini, Greece
Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, Canary Islands
Praia Dona Ana, Lagos, Portugal
Pajara, Corralejo and Pozo Negro – Fuerteventura, Canary Islands
First 2: Saunton Sands, Devon, UK Last pic: Camber Sands, East Sussex, UK
Playa Esmeralda, Guardalavaca, Cuba
Chaaya Island, Maldives
Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia, Greece

Shipwreck Beach, Zante, Greece
Magazine Beach, Grenada, Caribbean
Glentana, Buffalo Bay, Blouberg, Wilderness – Western Cape, South Africa
your pictures of greece are unreal - wow! for me it's the outer banks in north carolina, which is where i went when i was growing up. definitely the place i go to get away, feel relaxed, and recharge. many good memories there.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, those are some beautiful pics of beaches you've visited and you've been to so many! Lucky you. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have been to some amazing beaches. We live very near the oceanfront here in Virginia, but it's not at all my favorite beach. Although Colleen is right, the outer banks, which are just to the south of me are quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with Greece, like you. Some of my favorite beaches are there, and Shipwreck Beach is on my bucket list!
Okay, can I say I'm so utterly jealous over the beaches you've gone to??? How can you leave places like that? And hopefully after this week, I'll have a favourite beach as well
ReplyDeletePozo Negro and the shipwreck beach in Greece...BE STILL MY HEART! And I'm not even a beach girl! For me, a perfect beach is one without sand, humidity, sunlight, or bugs. Or heat. Soo...inside somewhere? Preferably where I don't have to wear a bathing suit? You guys are so lucky to have traveled so much. Your photos are unbelievable. xo
ReplyDeleteWaya Island in Fiji. Hands down
ReplyDeleteWow! you've been to some amazing beaches and you'll soon be able to add to these when you move to Oz ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell now I have a favorite beach !!!! ~ Chaaya Island, Maldives!!!!! You lucky little thing, going to all of these beaches ..... so jealous over here :-)
ReplyDeleteshut the front door! oh my goodness you are a well traveled woman! i would love to visit all of these places, cuba, greece, italy, canary islands, portugal. so jealous. my favorite beach was at the red sea in egypt. the sand was filled with the teeniest tiniest sea shells and the water was so blue and well, i was in egypt and it was all so brilliantly magical.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was on one of these beaches right now. It's very cold here today. My pick would be Shipwreck Beach in Zante, Greece - so beautiful and peaceful! I've only been to Corfu in Greece, but those beaches were gorgeous. Would love to go back and see more. We have some amazing beaches here in NZ, and our family fav is Ocean Beach - great surfing, huge sand dunes, and a long, long, stretch of sand. x
ReplyDeleteShipwreck beach looks like my dream beach come true! I pretty much loved all the beaches I've been to on the Hawaiian Islands, some where deserted yet had great snorkeling spots. When I was a teenager I received a postcard from Tulum and it showed a white beach, crystal clear water and Mayan ruins in the background. This image had been my dream beach for the longest time and we want to travel there this fall :)
ReplyDeleteThe beach! It's where I want to be right now! I love the beaches in Vieques, Puerto Rico. But I'd love to experience the ones in Greece and Croatia, as well.
ReplyDeleteOmg, it's like I've died and gone to heaven seeing these beach pictures. My favorite are the ones from Greece, Maldives, South Africa, Carribean..oh..all of them.
