As I mentioned last week, I came back from my trip to Stockholm brimming with so much love for all things Swedish that I wanted dedicate a full week to my enthusiasm! Although I am yet to travel to a city I didn’t fall in love with, Stockholm totally surpassed my expectations and got under my skin like no other city before. I expected sophistication and style but the charm and beautiful details in almost everything I saw took me by complete surprise. I know it would be naive of me to think that every Swedish house is as beautiful as the houses we saw in and around Stockholm, but there is no doubt that the Swedes are a very house-proud nation. Creepy or not, I spent a great deal of time peering into their houses, taking notes and sighing over their clever design solutions. In fact, we couldn’t take more than 2 steps without me wanting a picture of some picture-perfect Swedish house! We moved at a very slow pace, but neither of us were complaining!

ReplyDeleteWauw! I've been thinking about a holiday in Sweden already for years, but I never made the trip so far. I would really love to go there with my best friend. We both love the style of the houses and the nature.

If I had to chose one house to stay in that holiday I would love to stay in the house from the fifth picture above. The red one <3

ReplyDeleteGood lord. I love all of them! The Swedes get it right time and time again with their houses. I think Scandinavia (and maybe Europe in general) just has a different approach to home design than any other part of the world, and it's always so good. I love all these shots you took, and I LOVE that there aren't any people in them. Just amazing.
ReplyDeletethese are fantastic! i wish i could transport myself into one of the pictures and spend the day walking around. i am always amazed at how traditional and kitschy the outside of many swedish houses look, then you go in and it's so modern and divine. glad you had a good trip can't wait to see more. xo
ReplyDeleteOh love it. Especially the one in the 3rd image with the mansard roof. Next time we're going to have to send you out with a very special spy lens so that you can get some interior shots too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely and I really love that red color (usually only seen on barns) - just gorgeous! I bet you had an amazing time!

Sweden is definitely on my list of places to go next. I just love their design and now I am in love with their houses too. One of my favorite places to go on the internet is Tine K, she has a wonderful home and shop. Go check her out if you haven't already: http://www.tinekhome.com/
