By this time next week I will be a Mrs. I am excited, elated, nervous, slightly terrified and a little sad. Since we live so far away from home, we made the difficult decision of getting married here in London in a very low key ceremony without family and friends. I have never wanted a big wedding, and in all honesty, we simply can’t afford one. So it will be small and emotional but special all the same and maybe some day soon, we will visit our family and friends back home in South Africa and have a party so big, that it makes the Jubilee celebrations look like a garden party. So it’s hardly surprising that I am feeling wedding-y today and wanted to share some of the pictures from City Hall and Registry Office weddings that have inspired me. How about you? Did you have a small/large wedding or did you elope?
Have a lovely weekend all!

How exciting!!!! My husband and I had a small wedding three years ago and I loved every minute of it. One day we'll have a big party too! I love these pictures, just look at all the emotion in their faces - wonderful!!!
ReplyDeletefabulous pics. I'm not one the marrying type. should I ever change my mind I'd like to get married on a beach though...
ReplyDeletemeghan i am so excited for you!!! each wedding is a day for celebration and to be mindful of the commitment you're making - even if it's just you two or you two and everyone you know, both of those elements will be part of the day. and going home and getting to celebrate in a big party sounds perfect to me. congratulations - i hope the week flies by until your big day!
ReplyDeleteOh Meghan, how exciting for you!! I think it doesn't matter how big or small your wedding is-the most important part is the person you're marrying :-) I wish you lots of luck for your big day and married life! The photos are very beautiful, I've always loved b/w photography :-) The fifth set down with the umbrella are particularly pretty

Ah! Congratulations, girl! And I totally agree with Emily. Doesn't matter if it's big, small, medium, whatever. It's a special and intimate day for the both of you.
ReplyDeleteOh Meghan! That is terrific! How exciting. I hope you share pics and I am sure they will be gorgeous like the ones above. I am also sure you will have a beautiful meaningful ceremony. I wish you all the best!
ReplyDeleteOh so exciting for you!! I am still a single lady, and I always go back and forth on wanting a small wedding or a big party. I love the idea of small, simple and romantic, but am torn by wanting to include all my friends and family. Guess I do not need to decide today!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
B
Meghan I had no idea this was coming up so soon! Congratulations!! I am sure your friends and family will all be there in spirit cheering you on.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, how exciting!! I think there's something very romantic about a simple wedding ceremony, without all the usual hoopla to deal with :-)
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations! That is so so exciting.
ReplyDeleteWe married 8 years ago, just the 2 of us in a chapel. Some times I regret not having any kind of celebration, but if I had, it would be a small one with family and close friends.
I wish you guys the best!!
P.s. I have nominated you for the Liebster Award-pop over to my blog to read about it :-)

How exciting! I'm not into big weddings either so I'm sure that you're doing it exactly perfectly for you and yours.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Meghan! One great thing about it being just you two is you can really focus on each other and not everyone else - I think that's pretty special all on its own and the most important thing! The party can come later. I'm so happy for you. :)
ReplyDeleteI had no idea!!!!! A huge congratulations is in order for you and your soon to be hubby. It's happening the way it should be. Just know you are in for a wonderful ride to happiness and there will be so many celebrations along the way.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time.
Congratulations! This is a huge milestone. I remember feeling so many different emotions. Enjoy your day, and hopefully, sometime soon enough, your fabulously large party in South Africa.
ReplyDeleteWishing you many years of love, laughter and good times.
Congratulations!! Have a terrific wedding day - can't wait to see pictures of yours!! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Meghan! I wish you a lifetime of happiness! :)

Oh Meghan, I've only just seen this post of yours - congratulations! You should definitely get the movie 'the Vow' out, they have a lovely, simple ceremony in an art gallery - you have to see it, just beautiful. It's all about the love, not the expensive venue etc! I have no doubt yours will be beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteWe had a small wedding at home with about 30 people and it was a beautiful and relaxing day. I wouldn't do it any differently.
If I can give you an advice then allow yourself to relax and try to get rid of any kind of the-day-has-to-be-perfect thoughts. Wedding days are beautiful, they are perfect, and with the stress level turned to lowest setting you'll simply enjoy the day so much more. Allow yourself to get lost in the moment.
Wow I had no idea! Congratulations!!!! You will make a stunning bride Meghan. Please do share pics of yourself and your hubby. xo
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWe had a pretty large wedding with all of our family and friends, but that is totally my style and all of our family lives in the area!
