Textured bedding…

I really can’t afford to be anything more than frugal with my purchases around the home, but I recently held my breath, closed my eyes, swallowed the lump in my throat and bought some expensive but beautiful bed linen. It was literally life changing! One problem: it creases so badly/easily that you wonder how they ever got it to look smooth (even after ironing). Now call me crazy but I believe life is too short for 2 things: 1. making your own pasta/pastry and 2. ironing your bedding. The solution? To buy textured bedding or comforters to hide the creases (like a dirty little secret). Here’s what I have been pinning for bedding inspiration lately:

  1. Totally agree - life really is too short for that! Love the first and fourth from last (make sense?) ones. Only trouble is: I'd probably have to iron my face after a night on those pillows! The imprints from the texture would look hilarious... Have a great day xo

  3. I love white bed linen, but I don't know why I have so few pieces in white. It calls for some shopping. :)

  4. Oooooh, what a great idea! I'm in the market for some new bedding (light colors don't work with my babies!). You've definitely made me search in a whole new direction-- because there's no way I'm ironing blankets!

  5. Ooh, the more ornate the better in my book (just don't know how the guy of the house will feel about it hehehe)

  6. Oooh Anthropologie bedding is just ridiculously beautiful (but sooooo expensive)... sigh.

The most I iron in terms of bedding is pillow cases (is that a bit sad?) but only when they are very wrinkled lol

I did post about an amazing knock off tutorial on my blog last year to making one similar to the images in 6 & 10 out of teeshirts if that might help the budget :)

  7. Wow, you really found some nice images. I so agree with you on the pasta thing, haha, and that is coming from someone who loves cooking ;-)

I hardly ever iron my bedlinen, I just make sure to use the correct temperature when I wash them and I hang them to dry as soon as the machine is done. They always look good but I also didn't buy the cheapest ones. I think it's okay to spend a little on bedlinen, I think it's money well spent.

PS. So, am I the only one who drives to France to buy skincare products ;-)

  8. I love the styles you've chosen. I am currently drawn to anything by Matteo Home but am worried about the wrinkle factor as well. By the way, thanks for stopping by my blog...I'm so happy to have discovered yours! xx

  9. I agree, life is too short to iron bed linen - having said that, I always iron pillowcases! But the solution looks beautiful too - textured, embroidered, pintucked, draped, pleated and printed... Good luck with your search!

  10. Had to stop by after the great comments you left on Rhoda's Southern Hospitality post on my house tour! Thanks so much! Glad to have found you - I am definitely against ironing (can't remember the last time I did it) and am in the market for new bedding. Love this look.
My friend recently moved to London and she's South African also! Newest follower.

  11. Oh, I love the first one. Guess I would feel like I'd snuggle up in a big orange cloud. I have to admit I never iron my bedding either...

  13. Never feel guilty about spending money on good bedding! Remember that eight hours of everyday is spent in that bedding - we deserve a little luxury in our sleep too. Gorgeous images!

  14. I totally agree! I have a white duvet with textured white stripes... no ironing necessary!

  15. Gorgeous examples! I shy away from white bedding with kids in the house but would love to have it some day. The saffron-colored one is quite stunning.
