All I want for Christmas…

Lighting 7Image via Pinterest

Some people just have an innate ability to buy people good gifts. Due to my exquisite taste, I count myself amongst them… only kidding! I honestly don’t know whether I give good gifts or not, I mean people nod their heads and smile and hug and do all the polite things after receiving my gifts  but I know I do the same thing, even if the gift I am holding is the last thing I wanted! I love my guy to bits but gifts are not his specialty. After one particularly disastrous (expensive) earing set, we decided to give each other Christmas lists. In the Spirit of Christmas or not, we have never looked back! My list usually consists of a few pie-in-the-sky silly things (like this year I put a Pashley Poppy Bike and a treadmill on my list… you know what they say, if you don’t ask you don’t get) and a lot of cheap little goodies so he can pick and choose according to what he can afford and what he likes. Do you give wishlists or do you trust your partner to get it right?

Here’s what my list is looking like this year:

List

1. Bespoke Map Heart; 2. Knitted Throw; 3. Candlestick; 4. Etsy Spoon Bracelet; 5. Barometer Table Lamp; 6. Kissing Birds Scarf; 7. Olive Cushion; 8. Bracelet Watch; I did this late last night so 9 seems to be missing…oops; 10. Zinc Heart Box; 11. Michael Kors Chronograph Watch;  12. Pashley Poppy Bike;

  1. Ha, I could simply copy your list and pass it on to Monsieur ;-) He does get it right most of the time though - apart from last year: He knew I wanted a little retro-style radio for my desk, I had mentioned (ahem, hint) the Orla Kiely radio on several occasions. Unfortunately the name completely dropped out of his brain by the time it came to buying it and I got a Cath Kidston one instead (eugh!). Luckily he was ok with me exchanging it and he prefers the one I wanted too ;-) So, make sure you really spell out your list ;-) xo

  2. Lol! Yes Carole, I also learnt that the list has to be quite specific (i.e. colours, size etc). I also list things in order of priority, the stuff I really want is at the top. Hmmm... slightly control freak of me! Well at least it can't be said that I don't know what I want in life :)

  3. i give a list to my mom and dad but not to my boyfriend. i always like to see what he comes up with - he's usually quite good at getting me awesome and thoughtful gifts (with a stumble here and there, just like me). i love your list - especially number 8!

  4. I keep telling my guy that I'll handle the shopping and just put something under the tree from him - he still wrings his hands and gets nervous that I won't like it! Love the bike and MK watch and may have to add them to my list...

  5. A great list. We give each of a note with three choices, I am rarely disappointed. I adore the decorations around the bed, I will be giving this some thought for next year. Thanks for sharing, I will follow on my way out so I know the path back to your lovely blog. I hope you will find the time to come visit my place soon and do the same. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and look forward to supporting your blog in 2012. Cheers SpecialK XoXo

  6. I have not written a wish list in years - but more because I have no one to give it to - ha. I love the bedroom here and would love to fall asleep there every night. So gorgeous.
    Much love,

  7. We usually make wish lists for each other, but I like to be surprised too, especially that I always love what my hubby gets me. He seems to know better than me what I want. I have an obsession for watches, so you will always find that one on my wish list. And books. Your list looks really nice. xo

  9. Ooo, I love your list!! I ALWAYS give my hubby a list. He's actually a great gift giver, but the problem is I'm so dang greedy that by the time Christmas rolls around I have so many things I'm wanting, so I like to make sure I get at least a couple of them. :) And I make him give me a list because I never know what to get him, and I want to make sure he gets what he actually wants. Merry Christmas to you!!

  10. I so want that bicycle! Please tell me it's mine, please. I'm still crying over the one that got stolen :-(

    After I had children I sort of began to look at Christmas presents as something for them. For me it's enough to watch their excitement when opening the presents. Often hubby and I don't give each other anything (we always buy new books, though) but rather buy something new for the home. We are thinking about doing that this year and we've already spotted some nice bedlinen. Let's see what we'll do.

  11. I have that lamp, it is fabulous, you must buy it for yourself if no-one gifts it to you!

  13. I love your list. We definitely have to write lists, or at least drop not-so-subtle hints, but most of our money goes on the kids these days - they started writing their list about 2 months ago! xxx

  14. I always have wish lists and my family and my boyfriend love it as they know that they are spending money on things that I actually want. I love everything on your list!
