Crisis people! I decided to remove my highlights over the weekend and go back to my natural sandy brown hair colour… I now look like an un-foxy version of Morticia Addams. So apologies if I am a little grumpy this week! No worries though as I have managed to find a house where it wouldn’t matter what colour my hair was. Meet the Carriagehouse in Australia, by interior designers Hare and Klein. Give me exposed brickwork, shiny dark timber floors and industrial light fittings any day of the week! Even though there is a noticeable absence of colour, I think the space more than makes up for it with those beams and interesting cluttered knickknacks! What do you think? Could you be blissfully happy here?

This place has tones of character so the lack of colors kind of make up for it! Love the kitchen area, so rustic and charming.

i like this interior, its kinda loft style. industrial and simple- perfect, but instead of brick i prefer concrete :)
ReplyDeleteby ty way, im dying today my hair too, i think it will be good:p
ReplyDeleteSo very cool...LOVE the kitchen!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing house. And a hair crisis is the worst! I hope you get your style the way you like it soon : )
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for stopping by (and glad to have now found your blog!)
ReplyDeleteI am loving the industrial and unfinished feel of this open space.
Aww Meghan! It's only temporary and it can be fixed...and I am sure you are way too hard on yourself. Can't be worse than what I did to my hair 2 months ago. I have brownish black hair and wanted to go light and I dyed it myself. Well, only the top of my hair took the color and the rest was black. It was like someone dumped a bowl of hair dye on my hair and left the bowl on there. YIKES! And it turned ORANGE....the Hubby said I looked like an albino and he couldn't stop laughing at me.
ReplyDeleteAnywho, this house is wonderful and so beautiful! Love that kitchen.

What a great place and I love your analogy to hair! I go through the same thing every summer, in fact this is the first year I haven't had low lights or high lights added in--it just gets to be such a hassle from keeping it going too brassy that I skipped it so far this summer although I'm feeling very blah...but back to the home--would die for that egg bathtub!

Ha ha, I doubt you look like Morticia!
ReplyDeleteThis place is amazing- I love those shiny timber floors too!
Thanks ladies! It helps to know that I am not the only one with a hair crisis! Linh, your story made me laugh out loud, I had a similar incident a few years ago (I know, I should learn my lesson right), my guy actually volunteered to help me lighten my hair but he missed loads at the back and I ended up with orange spotty hair, I was called a cheetah for a few weeks!
ReplyDeleteEven with the very neutral tones, it looks so cozy and well designed. Lovely!!!! P.S. I think we all have had those "hair issues"...not fun! Thanks for commenting and visiting my blog, I am now following you :)
ReplyDeleteLOL a cheetah...awww you poor thing. Gosh - the lengths us gals go through to look good :) I still have orange spots in my hair too but it's hidden thank goodness :) Good laughs!

I love Morticia Addams and her funereal chic ;-) Fascinating blog! I am enjoying it! Thanks so much for your comment on mine xx
ReplyDeletewonderful interiors :)
ReplyDeleteVery masculine... I like it!
ReplyDeleteAhhh a hair crisis! No fun! This industrial-cool house can at least take your mind off things :)
ReplyDeleteSorry about your hair, I'm sure it will be fine soon! But you have a good approach...anything by Hare and Klein will always make the day better, they are so good! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI hate hair disasters! What a way to start the week :(
ReplyDeleteIn any case, yes, I could live in that house. It is kind of funky, kind of rustic, it has just the right kind of vibe.
That tub won me over!
ReplyDeleteBummer on the hair. :(
Hare & Klein are one of my favourite Australian design firms, along with Greg Natale. These are great pictures, such an incredible house!
ReplyDeleteI've had that exact hair crisis more than I care to admit! Bet it doesn't look as bad as you think though.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, I could defintiely be happy in this joint, very cool.
Hey Meghan, so sorry to hear about your hair!!! Wanted to say thank you so much for coming by my blog and leaving such a lovely comment! Hopefully those words will cheer you up this week!! I'm enjoying the pictures of that house and putting them in my inspiration folder for my new house. We just bought an older building on our town square and plan to renovate the top floor as our apartment which has a loft feel with high ceilings and the exposed brick walls. I'm loving the natural rustic feel to this place but I think I would need just a bit of color and a comfy couch! But the pictures are sure nice to look at!
ReplyDeleteAwww no hopefully the hair crisis doesn't last too long!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous house, the kitchen is by far my fave room in this house, will be bookmarking this one.
Have a great day xx
You are too funny about the hair! I once had some unfortunate orange highlights--last time I tried to do my own color! Gorgeous place but I agree with it needing some more warmth or color for me to be just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving their work, but I think the bathrooms are my favorite. Thanks for the eye candy!
ReplyDeleteWow, the exterior of this building is just fabulous, and good on you for finding it during your hair crisis which as we all know, can be so debilitating! Nicolex
