Staying with my lamp theme from yesterday, I bring you the mighty London streetlamp for My Fair London post. I first became fascinated with London streetlamps when I was walking through St James’s Park at night and noticed an old Victorian gas lamp flickering in the distance. It was very eerie (kinda Jack the Ripper-esque) so I googled it and found out that there are still over 2,000 streetlamps in London that are powered by gas! I know this is not going to excite everyone but I have become obsessed with beautiful streetlamps (well lamps in general if I am honest). Again, this is not something you would necessarily notice as a tourist but it is the small things like this that make this city unique!
I love london's street lamps
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I've often wished that Dallas has some beautiful lamps to improve the city's lack of beautiful architecture and details!
ReplyDeleteHi Meghan! Thanks so much for your sweet comments on my blog. I am now following you as well! I love all of these pictures of London, I lived there for a few months 6 years ago and I am dying to go back and visit! One of my favorite houses in my neighborhood has gas burning lamps on their porch, they are just so cozy and inviting!

I have a new appreciation for exterior lamps (coach lights) since I had to pick some out for my home, and didn't even know where to begin! Wish I was in Europe at the time to get inspiration-these are great!
ReplyDeleteThat is some great architecture behind those lamps!! Great post!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful- I am exactly the same- love the little details and one would often walk past a street lamp without even noticing it's details... Barcelona has some amazing ones too, even designed by Gaudi...such a lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know if I focused on the lamps. I just sighed wistfully at each pic. I wish I was travelling. . . :)
