Holidaying, hibernating, indulging, healing, being.

Wishful ThinkingImage via Wishful Thinking

I’m back. I’m missing the sun, the sea, the soft water, the late sunsets, the quiet nights, Arabic television, sunburnt noses and the 5 Euro cases of beer. Also, it’s 2 degrees celcius here. Just thought I should mention that. So I am holed up indoors with the heating on full blast and a blanket pulled up around my head (with only my nose sticking out). I will be hibernating, Pintersting and enjoying copious amounts of chocolate and wine whilst trying to acclimatise to these frigid temperatures.

I hope everyone has a wonderful [warm] Easter. Normal service will resume after the break! Promise!

A rooftop wedding to remember…

I think this might be my first ever wedding post but I came across this rooftop wedding which I thought was pure perfection. I adored the muted colours, the wedding dress, the setting, the flowers (oh those flowers were sooooo gorgeous), the fact that the groom wore trainers, the bridesmaid’s dresses, the casual food, the look of adoration on the groom’s face but mostly I loved the fact that everyone looked like they were having the time of their life. If I could get married again (to the same man of course), I would want my wedding to be a lot like this one.

Wanna see what I mean?

Monday Snoop – The Scandinavian Way

I just wanted to post something a little short and sweet today because I think the house really speaks for itself. It’s fresh, quirky, cosy and of course, it’s Scandinavian! I can’t not mention those floors, because damn, I want to marry them and have their babies!

Have a wonderful Monday all!

Starting afresh…

I know this is something that everyone experiences but I woke up this week and wondered where exactly March went? It feels like just yesterday I was kissing February’s sorry butt goodbye, hoping to embrace the warmer March weather. That didn’t exactly materialise but I am telling myself that the cold weather can’t last forever and when the sun finally appears, I want to be ready. I spent last weekend packing away most of my very heavy winter jumpers to make room for cardis and light shirts but I almost feel like getting rid of everything I have and starting fresh with some exotic brights, flowing maxi dresses and small purses. The new spring line from Hoss Intropia will do very nicely in my cupboards and drawers.

What do you think? Any favourites?

Gone Adventuring…

Big news: I am going somewhere sunny and HOT (with a beach)!! Citizens of the Canaries, I urge you to brace yourself because a couple of translucent  South Africans will soon be hitting your beaches… hard!

I have a few posts planned but truth be told, I want to stay as far away from the indoors as possible so I will be absent from your blogs but I’ll see you soon, hopefully sporting a killer tan!

Exploring Leadenhall…

5cbc148440bf03aff2903221900dea9a

This quote really resonated with me. As far back as I can remember, I have been an explorer. Amongst posters of David Boreanaz (*cringe*) and Brad Pitt, pictures of Egypt, Croatia, America and Thailand lined my walls. Unfortunately as fate would have it, money was very tight at home (i.e. non existent) and I wondered whether I would always really want what I thought I could probably never have.  But when I turned 18, things changed for me, I packed my bags, took out a loan and decided to defy the odds and change my future. With my trusty sidekick (who is now my husband), we set out to the see the world – 8 years later, we are still doing just that. I don't think I will ever shake my need to explore. It's  as ingrained in me as my need to breathe.

Here are some shots taken from an empty Leadenhall Market in the city – just another day we went exploring! You might recognise it from Harry Potter and The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. Leadenhall Market has been around since the 1300s and in 1411, former Lord Mayor Richard 'Dick' Whittington gifted the market to the City. Can you spot the wrought iron hooks along the wall where the produce used to hang?
