Double or nothing…

Wednesday, 5 December 2012

Coffee tables. Probably not something you think about often. I bet you have a really large one in your living room that holds all manner of frivolous objects, perhaps you are even able to walk all the way around it and rest your feet on it when watching tv? Yes? Then I envy you. I’ve wanted a coffee table so much over the years but no matter how small they make them, I would still probably have to climb over it to get through the door. So the latest trend of doubling up on coffee tables has me practically weeping. I love love love it!

How about you? What’s your coffee table situation?

P.S thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday, I had a wonderful day off!

In a perfect world…

Tuesday, 4 December 2012

The thing I love most about blogging is that I am my own boss. And as my own boss, I am hereby giving myself the day off. Because in a perfect world, nobody should have to work on their birthday.

That’s right people, I am one year closer to 30. See ya tomorrow, hopefully sans hangover!

Love at first sight…

Monday, 3 December 2012

I am not even sure how I came across the house that I am about to show you today. A series of clicks and browsing through various websites brought me to Koskela – a Sydney based company run by Russel Koskela and Sasha Titchkosky, who produce beautiful, functional and environmentally friendly furniture. I lost a great deal of time just ogling the goodies on their website (do yourself a favour and check them out) and then this gorgeous little cottage popped up on my screen. It’s actually a rentable holiday house located on the pretty little fishing village of Patonga. Turns out the cottage was lovingly restored by the Koskela team.

I’m not going to lie, it was love at first sight.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get more welcoming, they show you how it looks at night…

Cocooning…

Friday, 30 November 2012

I woke up shivering and cursing our central heating system yesterday morning. Since it always chooses the dead of winter to break down (affectionately known as the “red light of death syndrome”) I just assumed it decided to play it’s little mind games with us once again. But I was wrong, it was merrily working away but it was so cold that not even our heating system could make a dent in the frigid air. So it happened folks. Winter is here with a vengeance. And none of my winter clothes feel adequate anymore. I’m on the look-out for the perfect oversized winter coat that I can cocoon myself in.

Something like this maybe?

Nah, just kidding you! More like this…

Glamping essentials

Thursday, 29 November 2012

It is confirmed. I have finally lost my mind. In my quest for an outdoor adventure, I have badgered my long-suffering husband into taking me camping (well, glamping to be more precise)… in the middle of winter. I played the birthday card and there may have been some feet stamping involved, until he finally capitulated and booked a cute little shepard’s hut on Canopy and Stars. It’s got a little wood burning stove and a gorgeous slipper bath… eeeeeerm but it’s lacking in electricity and the toilet may or may not be outside. In any event, we are excited for the break, the road trip and for the consumption of numerous bottles of red wine (which will be packed first). Apart from the red wine, here’s some of my essentials…

Kitchens are by far one of my favourite things to blog about. If there were more hours in the day and I had 8 arms instead of 2, I am sure that I would have a separate blog totally devoted to my love of all things kitchen. I guess my addiction stems from the fact that my kitchen never feels fully furnished, there is always something I want to add or change or move around. I’m always looking for the next best thing, latest gadget or the newest trends. At the moment, it’s colourful and vibrant kitchen islands that are catching my eye.

Only I just can’t seem to narrow them down…

Oh so quiet…

Tuesday, 27 November 2012

I wish I had more exciting photos to share this morning but my weekends have been very much a home affair as my husband finishes up the last of his impossible degree. We spend our spare moments pondering what we will do with our spare evenings and weekends (ironic huh) once he finally has his freedom – and believe me when I tell you the list is very very long. But I am not despairing because the end is in sight (we hope) and in the meantime, I will continue to try and ignore my growing cabin fever by taking comfort in food and bad television!
